Influences
GEORGE MICHAEL, BON JOVI, KISS, MEAT LOAF, TIM MCGRAW, PRINCE, RENT!!!, STEVE VAI, JOE SATRIANI, RASCAL FLATTS, KEITH URBAN, POISON, CINDERELLA, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, THE EAGLES, KENNY CHESNEY, DEF LEPPARD, BACKSTREET BOYS, THE BEATLES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, AMERICA, C,S,N&Y, ELTON JOHN and the list goes on forever. If it's a good song, I don't care who wrote it. It's a good song. Songwriting partnerships like, Jon Bon Jovi/ Richie Sambora, Paul Stanley/ Gene Simmons, Paul McCartney/John Lennon as of course Elton John/ Bernie Taupin. Most of all, life is the biggest influence. Write about what you know and be sincere. People feel that.
Sounds Like
This is a funny one. As much as I've been heavily influenced by different people (KISS, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, Keith Urban, 80's hard rock and even Prince, I don't think my music sounds like any of them. I like to believe it's music with a good vibe and nice groove, enjoyable to those who like this kind of poppier country/rock acoustic music.
April 27th, 2009
Greetings friends and fellow music lovers!
It's been quite awhile since anything was stirring in the DejaView camp, and I must not only apologize for keeping you all waiting for new material (or ANY material) during my "uninspired" and "distracted" period of 2007-2009, when I had to let music take a backseat and focus on more immediate and pressing issues such as home and family, but I'm glad to report the silence has drawn to a close. In fact, there's going to be so much activity and new music as well as a theatrical project(!) in the coming year(s) that you may all have a hard time keeping up! I MAY HAVE A HARD TIME KEEPING UP! LOL!
First and most importantly I have to give credit to the new voice and my new partner in crime of DejaView, Tom Paduano. Tom is an incredibly talented and creative young man with a background in theater, arts, music and live perforance production. He brings to the table an incredibly positive and truly energetic vibe that has reinfused life back into making music for me again. After my 1st time hearing him do a quick, off the cuff performance of "One song Glory" from the play/movie RENT, I was immediately captured by the power as well as tenderness of his vocal ability. His talent, together with his ambition, passion and drive and easy to work with personality cleared the clouds away and I knew this was going to have to be the new voice/creative collaborator with me in DejaView.
In the months ahead there's going to MUCH new music released with Tom leading the way vocally and myself acting more as musician and sideman. Much like the Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf creative partnership, Tom and I see ourselves as extensions of each other musically and together create a force that looks like it's going to be quite polific and productive.
Original songs will be released sporadically as we're going to be focused on bringing the classic Meat Loaf "Bat out of Hell" album first to the live club stage in it's entireity and finally to the full theatrical stage as a full blown production. It's going to be an interesting journey and I look forward to you all being onboard and watching it's evolution.
Aside from these projects we'll be tackling "rewiring" some other classic songs from multiple genres and updating them as well, since we both enjoy making music so much that paying tribute to some of our favorite classic songs seems only natural. "Never forgetting where you came from" is something we feel is important, and covering material from your influences is fun as well as satisfying being a fan first and musician second.
So, welcome to DejaView 2009..... REWIRED. There's a new member, new energy, a new sound and a new outlook that will hopefully translate into the notes and music for everyone to enjoy. I know that I myself can't wait to see what the fruit of our collaboration brings. If it's anything compared to what's already been done, this will be a great year indeed!
Thank You to all of you for being so Patient. I promise this year will have enough in store to make up for the silence of the past 2! There's going to be Rock, Smooth grooves, R&B, Country and Theatrical music as well as videos.
Welcome to 2009 with DejaView! Let the music play!
Love to you all, Johnny
Hello hello!!!!!! Wow....so I have SO much to say to you right now, but I'm going to have to do that later because I'm about to run and got on long enough to check my stuff and was pleasantly surprised to see a LOT of stuff from you! Made me smile! But prepare yourself for the wrath of a LONG Mike letter. :) :) It was GREAT hearing from you!! I guess you could say it made my day!
Wait...are you referring to the glasses? 'Cause if you are...NO!!! YOU'D BETTER KEEP THEM!!! They're funny, yes, but also really cool and unique! DO NOT GET RID OF THE "FASTLOVE" GLASSES!!!! lol
Hi John, Won't be upset if you want to take our Runaway mix down and put up your original. Doesn't look like it's getting much play and you'll have room for new stuff!!
