Fort Lauderdale-- Behind The Scenes, Corp. and the City of Lauderdale Lakes have partnered to host the “Cease the Violence” Music Empowerment Conference, January 13-14, 2007. The free two-day conference will focus on providing the practical techniques on how to work in the music industry while enforcing the vision of peace, equality and empowerment of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The 2007 conference will begin at Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, on Saturday, January 13, 9am - 6pm, and feature 10 workshops and panel presentations. Topics include: Managing Cross-Culture Conflict; Community Conflict Resolution; Economic Development; The Role of Hip-Hop in Politics; Effective Measures for Crowd Management; Music Business Education; Ownership; Industry Economics; Product Development/Marketing; and Financial Freedom.
The Conference will conclude with the “Cease the Violence” Music Concert on January 14, at Vincent Torres Park, from 2pm - 6pm featuring performances by local artists and DJs.
AUDITIONS TO PERFORM IN THE CONCERT WILL TAKE PLACE DECEMBER 4, 11 AND 18 BETWEEN 6 TO 8 P.M., AT THE DR. REITMEN BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB, 3025 WEST BROWARD BOULEVARD, FORT LAUDERDALE. For auditions contact Sebastian at (954) 643-8068 / (954) 701-8186, or Jermaine at (954) 536-8439.
