Hi, nice to meet ya. My name is Alexia. I’m into music, helping people out and Prada. (Sure I like the bags, Shoes and clothing but I was referring to my Dog). Bands are my life. Well, bands that have original material. Not to harsh on cover bands, but I’m an original material girl. ; ) OK, here’s my life in a minute. After graduating as a voice major from LaGuardia (you know that “Fame” school) I moved on to NYU where I majored in Business and Producing. I climbed up the ladder in the film industry. It was a passion. I’ve worked with Robert DeNiro, Jane Rosenthal, Lynda Obst, Miramax etc. You get the picture.
Something was missing. I’m heavy into helping people and that just wasn’t happening.
Bought a ticket to Austin, TX, the self proclaimed “Live music capital of the world”. I helped post production on my last two films; “Once upon a Time in Mexico” and “Spy Kids 2”. Still, I wasn’t feeling it. Yeah, Buhbbye to film and that hefty bankroll.
Musicgorilla.com baby. I’m now Co-Founder of this awesome company that helps musicians. Finally I’m doing something worthwhile. I met a dude who had this idea. I’d use my background in film and er yeah, my “rolodex” to create a website that would provide critical exposure for bands with original material. We’re talking film placement, TV placement, live showcases, digital distro and even getting labels to sign contracts with us to use our site as a resource. Bands need to be heard, right, and the industry needs music, right? We now have Major labels, Indies, managers etc that are finding the music they’re looking for.
In less than 2 years, I’ve gotten more than 40 bands signed to either labels, publishing deals or distribution through major outlets and have had some placed in film as well. More than 70 bands have played in FREE live showcases for Sony, Epic, Hollywood Records etc. A website that guarantees your songs will be heard by the industry. Rock on.
Yeah, not that easy. For every artist I help, there are always going to be those that are skeptical of a “dot com” that charges any fee. And I honestly can’t blame them. There *are* a ton of scams out there and musicians aren’t the wealthiest playaz in the world. My options were to build a zoo environment and collect from the advertisers or stay with the plan of building a small community of artists that actually want to make music their *career*. I refused to accept advertising on my website. I still felt I needed to figure out ways to have bands recoup the fee through referrals etc and have done so. Yeah, it’s been a challenge financially but it’s been worth it. Consider this your invitation to check out what’s happening at www.musicgorilla.com and find out how we can help you and your music become a success. Hmmm, any MySpace friend gets 10% off membership. I figure you deserve a reward for reading all that! You can sign up HERE
"To simply say that my group’s experience at Music Gorilla’s May 2006 showcase was “well worth it” would be an understatement. Music Gorilla reps were very professional, and kept the showcase running smoothly. The energy in the place was great! It was also an honor to perform with other high quality acts such as Loot! Emma Cook, Kacie Sheik, & Nooner. They all did their thing The feedback we got from Epic Records was positive and very useful. Overall it was a great experience to be a part of and would definitely do it again. Shout out to Music Gorilla!! Whenever they have a showcase available, it’d be best to jump at the opportunity!"

"Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your efforts with Music Gorilla. As a manager for national recording artist Shelley Laine, I have tremendous appreciation for resources that help promote the Independent Artist’s career. There are a number of things that you and MG do extremely well, ultimately giving the artist access to opportunities that would otherwise not exist. Recently one of Shelley’s tracks was selected for a film. As a result of that she is getting significant national exposure. That would not have been possible without MG. You can count on Shelley and her entire management team to support any future endeavors that MG undertakes. Thanks for being there for the Indies!"

"The opportunities that Music Gorilla provides with their free submissions is similar to what TAXI and other websites offer, but it is free!! For those of us who are actively making money off of our music, this really is a treasure. I have already received interest for one of my songs through MG, and I know more are on the horizon. There are so many opportunities out there in the music world, not just playing rock star or being the next American Idol, and Music Gorilla is totally doing it's members a massive service by offering this to us. If you believe in the songs you write, why not send them in? You really have nothing to lose and EVERYTHING to gain by sending out a simple email!"

"Since Alexia has welcomed us into the MusicGorilla family, we've been given opportunities that were previously unavailable and almost unattainable by the Indie artist. MusicGorilla selected us to perform in two showcases for major labels - Hollywood Records and Epic Records and without MusicGorilla's help we would not have had that opportunity. The MusicGorilla love has also assisted us in gaining exposure on network TV with promotion on NBC's "Friday Night Lights" and that's not to mention the constant exposure to Major and Indie professionals on the MG website. So kudos go out to MusicGorilla folks for a job well done and everything they do to help the Indie artist get to the next level. Not just for us, but for ALL of the MG artists!"

"IF YOU ARE A MUSICIAN PLEASE READ THIS I have not been in the music industry for too long - less than a year, to be exact. But I have noticed that a lot of people that I meet in this industry are fulll-of-s**t. They will promise you everything, but give you nothing. This all changed when I met Alexia from http://www.MusicGorilla.com she has come true on her word every time Whenever I have a question, Alexia is there to answer it. If you have a minute go and browse the website http://www.MusicGorilla.com and give Alexia a call, you won't regret it"

"Wow, my new subscription to MusicGorilla.com is blowing my mind. In the first week, I had the opportunity to showcase live in front of major label A&R and received valuable feedback on my performance. I've also submitted my songs for placement opportunities I would have never known about with out the site. I'm really impressed with the broad range services that I can use to help build my career and the fast response from the MusicGorilla staff to my questions! Awesome!"

“…I had been on the site about 3 weeks when I received my first email from a Rep. at a record company. I was blown away! I never expected a response that quickly. I LOVE MG! For all you skeptics out there, Music Gorilla does everything they say they will do. The only thing you have to lose is the record label that never heard your music. Blessings to everyone who takes a chance on MG."

We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time yesterday. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a video of a tune called Run Bobby Run:
