Influences
The roller coaster of life... the ups, the downs, the good and the bad. Love, heartache, sadness, and elation. The way my daughter and wife smile.
Musical influences include Nirvana, Blind Melon, Led Zepplin, Neil Young, Steven Stills, Bob Dylan, Rush, Pearl Jam, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, the Doors, Ray LaMontagne, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and the Rolling Stones.
Sounds Like
Socially conscious indie-acoustic-rock with a touch of Doors, Steven Stills, Ray LaMontagne, and Nirvana
Brian Layton Cardall, aka Jonahs, (December 7, 1976 - June 9, 2009) Known for thought provoking lyrics and a unique, creative style, Jonahs came into this world with a desire to change it for the better. His musical aspirations began while in college where Jonahs used music as an escape from the rigors of academia. It was not uncommon for Jonahs to uninhibitedly speak his mind while performing rough and unrehearsed musical ramblings at open-mic sessions, coffee shops, or house parties in Logan, Utah.
While in college, Jonahs took advantage of summer breaks to travel the world. His vagabond wanderings include trips through Spain, France, Great Brittan, Equator, Peru, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and countless lonely highways of the American West. Jonahs drew inspiration for song writing from life on the road, and during his travels he wrote the lyrics to ‘Hitchhiker’, ‘Simplify’, and ‘Fly Away’. While traveling he would avoid the sites frequented by tourists; instead he sought to experience the cultural essence of a place, to meet and understand the people who lived there, and take home a deeper understanding of the world and his role in it.
It was on the road, and in the lecture halls of the university he attended, where Jonahs became aware of the seriousness of the problems facing our generation, and our planet. In particular, social injustices associated with ethnicity, class, and/or economic status. Jonahs has been especially influenced by witnessing preventable ecological degradation caused greedy corporations, industrial polluters, unchecked suburban expansion, a general disregard for the intricate balance of nature, and by understanding how environmental troubles often result in human suffering. This is apparent in the lyrics to his songs ‘Leave It All Behind’, ‘Common Understanding’, and ‘Restless Hope’.
Brian, this world just doesn't seem as bright without you here. You were taken from this life way to early. You were such an amazing man, husband, father, and friend. I am so thankful that you recorded your CD for us all to cherish. I listen to Jonahs whenever I drive in the car and have found it to be a great time to shed a few tears for you, Anna, Ava and your precious unborn baby.
Eden Alley is a local, organic restaurant located on the Plaza in Kansas City, Mo. They are using their homepage to tell everyone about this important issue at hand:
This is an Eater's Battle. If you eat, if your friends eat, if their children eat, they they all need to be able to choose whether or not they want to eat or avoid FrankenFoods (Genetically Modified Foods). The right to choose clean, unadulterated food is a basic human right since unlabeled, but weaponized and adulterated food makes us sick against our will and without our knowledge.
The hazards of genetically modified organisms, food or fibers, drug-producing plants or animals, soil bacteria, trees, cotton, etc., are suppressed but we are all experiencing them, thanks to the fact that 80% of the American Diet contains these dangerous ingredients and GMO cotton has been implicated in emerging new diseases and deaths among consumers and farmers alike.
Please spread the word and tell everyone you know about this critical campaign: take back clean food from the Biotech companies and their government cronies!
The new administration is pushing new farm controls through Congress as fast as possible and have coordinated the bills so there will be no debate and the committee meetings are closed.
Our entire food system and thus our health is being decided without the public knowing and those who do know have zero access and the media is absent and they are moving at warp speed to sew this up.
All is aware and awake with Love'n'Light for ALL!!!!!!

The Yard Dogs Road Show is a hobo cabaret, a living patchwork of vaudeville and rock and roll. In the enchanting land of stage show entertainment theirs is both pleasant and formidable terrain. They require a sensitivity to the subtle and the absurd. They lead the modern hobohemian on a visual and sonic journey through part of history that may or may not have existed – followed by an ambitious return to the emotional challenges of our punch-drunk contemporary world. It’s a true story on stage: sword swallowers, dancing dolls, fire eaters and sunset hobo poetry - all animated by the live sounds of the Yard Dogs cartoon heavy band. Yard Dogs Road Show is pure visual and sonic voodoo.
