Summer 2009 UPDATE:
Before the serious bio, here's what I'm doing now! I'm writing another pop/rock/bluesy/jazzy feeling cd as KEIGHT. ..so be sure to keep eye on myspace.com/keightband,,,and a new website up soon www.keightband.com Yes another new EP! Should be out in late 2009 or early 2010. Aside from that, I also do classical music- yes like even opera, and am now auditioning for opera houses. I gig when I can, I teach music for a living, and also am helping some of my students put their own band together! And guess what,,,,they rock! Busy with music and song...the best way to be.

BIO:
--LABELED ONE OF SOUTHEASTS BEST SINGER/SONGWRTIERS, KATE BROWN, now Keight, drives her original style home with innovative guitar and voice, combining pop/rock and country/rock. Accomplished on voice, piano, flute, guitar, and crossover studies in opera, Kate carries her weight in the rock world demonstrating her given title as "LOCAL COFFEE HOUSE QUEEN."
--TAXI calls her"...an artist with a signature
style"...,and voicing reminiscent of those to the band Heart.
-- Born and raised in the pacific northwest, Kate draws on those influences where rock defines itself. Kate has vast experience playing live in many different types of venues and musical circumstances and has performed along both coasts of the US, including some international locations as well. (Among these as a child while briefly living in Paris France, she sang in the French film "Itineraire D'un Enfant Gate"
-Film by Claude Lelouch, music Francis Lai).
--More than a singer with guitar, as a songwriter and producer Kate has released two pop/rock CDs (KATE BROWN and LOVE CHILD) displaying rock meets pop with profound yet lively lyrics. A troubadour at heart, Kate Brown has a lot to rock about.
--Performing a variety of styles from originals to covers, now residing on the east coast, local Myrtle Beach venues have included: Fresh Brewed, The Living Room, Dick's Last Resort, Ocean Creek Resort, Dead Dog, Carolina Girl Guitar Show, Myrtle Beach Clubhouse, Ron Jon's, Starbucks, Meher Center, among others.
--Kate also teaches music privately; with piano training when she was a child from Oregon State University's head piano professor Joseph Brye, (then retired), - voice training from the late Maestro David Kyle who taught Ann Wilson of Heart, (and many others who were as successful), Brown Bradley of the FPC Concerts INC, (retired Broadway and professional opera singer), and Dr. Patti Edwards of Coastal Carolina University, (also former professional opera singer).
Kate has a professional, rich back-ground of training to draw on, combined with her own experience and natural ability to connect to students she keeps them coming back for more as they continue to improve and excel.
--As a lyricist Kate self-published two spiritual based poetry books MUSIC OF THE HEART and TROUBADOUR- reviewed by best selling Penguinn author Daniel Ladinsky of Hafiz translations as "STUNNING." These writings taken from a very young age, along with a devotional CD to Meher Baba are available at Sheriar books.
--Brought up in a musical/medical family, Kate spent her school years involved in choir, rock bands, concert bands, jazz band, and school plays. She performed in HMS Pinafore and Oliver where she had two secondary roles.
--In 1999 and 2000 the year she spent with lessons under the late Maestro David Kyle, Kate grew to love opera and since has become a devoted crossover singer. You can follow her opera world under her very real alias of Kathryn Hope listed as a Myspace Friend.
--Captivating, she enlivens most any venue and musically holds a strong connection with her audience.
