NEW ALBUM WAYLAID NOW FOR SALE ON ITUNES AS OF 5/13/09
Melissa Rae was born up in the mountains and rolling meadows into a musical family of seven children. No, not the Von Trapp family, but close. She was raised in the Berkshires on the sweet sounds of hymns, bluegrass, ragtime and gospel, as well as cider and pancakes with real maple syrup from the trees out back. She took a stab at punk rock when she joined Sparkle Blue at the age of fifteen but was quickly drawn back to her roots, recording her first folk album in 2002 called "Colored Pen Promises". The album reflects a raw yet rosy assembly of original songs mainly stripped down to guitar and vocals. While living in Philadelphia in the early 2000s, she frequently could be found playing alongside friend and former member of Saves the Day Sean McGrath in a duo aptly named Marathon Guitar Tag Team. Melissa recorded her second album in May 2008, These Chords That Break, performed by various musicians at the Hartt School of Music, which is for sale on myspace now. Her next album Waylaid, which she just finished recording in CT, is NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON ITUNES and very soon on Amazon.

Melissa! how are you?? I really like you're profile pic, it's beautiful!
I just wanted to let you know I'm playing a 2 hour set at Caribou Coffee in downtown Royal Oak this thursday July 2nd from 7-9pm. I would love to see you again. Hopefully you are doing well :)
Awwww, thanks for your comment.
I would surely love to be still in Phila(roony). But I am back in my homeland. Which is okay too.
I didn't know you were such an amazing singer. I mean I knew you could sing Dolly Parton, but these songs are wonderful!
Plus, you got some banjo on a track or two yeah?
I trust all is well. Until next time, Peace to you!
Thanks for the add, Melissa! Love the stuff you got there. Be sure to check out our new album "Set Me Ablaze and Make Your Escape"; available on iTunes and Amazon MP3 now!
hey dude, not too much is going on over here. i moved back upstate this past july and i've been working at the culinary institute since then. that is ironic though, i never thought there would be an entire town in michigan full of disaffected hipsters dancing to cliche 90's dance music. seriously though, how are things?
