Natalie Chapman was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and started performing at the tender age of 3. She has worked professionally as an Actress/ Singer and Dancer since 1996.
Natalie started her career in Musical Theatre (JC Superstar, The Wizard of Oz – Dorothy, Bugsy Malone, Jack and the Beanstalk and many more). She was awarded on various occasions for her outstanding work including: The Cape Times Merit Award & Silver Medal for Excellence from Trinity College of London. She studied full time at The Waterfront Theatre School where she majored in Dance, Drama and Singing and is an LTCL Trinity College of London Speech and Drama Teacher.
In 2006 she put her song writing skills to work for her debut album Between the Lines which brought her a No.2 Hit on OFM and high frequency play listing on major radio stations like Highveld, Algoa FM and Jacaranda as well as numerous community stations nationwide, with singles from the album including: Are you coming home?, A New Life and With you and me. In 2008 she returned to the Musical Theatre stage as a leading lady in The Broadway Musical The Full Monty. With roles in commercials for Brands like General Motors, Nedbank, McCains, and Ford, she is always in the public eye.
Natalie is also a very successful voice over artist working for a multitude of Major Brands and hosts her own Radio Show The Local Element on Radio Today, which exposes local talent. She was also nominated for a People’s Magazine Crystal Award for Best Female Newcomer in 2007.
A full time musician and actress, Natalie tours the country with her amazing performances plat forming her beautiful voice and catchy heartfelt songs.
Natalie has recently been cast in Scandal (an ETV drama) as the new Detective Inspector and her first episode aired in early November 2009.
Natalie Chapman’s live performances range from solo, duo acoustic sets to full band shows and with her stage background, are always very entertaining. Natalie is also the co-producer and band member of The Eric Clapton “Slowhand” Tribute Show which showcases the life and music of the Legend: Eric Clapton. The show is about to tour the country.
Natalie has shared the same stage with greats like Arno Carstens, Albert Frost, Southern Gypsey Queen, Piet Botha, Heinz Winckler, Gerald Clark, Ezra and many more and has performed at Oppikoppi, STRAB, White Mountain Folk Festival and Splashy Fen Music Festival.
Her blend of Acoustic/Folk/Rock, amazing vocals and stage performances are guaranteed to blow the audience away every time. Her new album is in pre production and will be released by June 2010.
A triple threat performer, Natalie Chapman is definitely making her mark on the South African entertainment scene!
