Sounds Like
Rain. Although alot of people tell me otherwise how i sond like "Pharrell wih N.E.R.D. or a less experienced Kanye West (minus the ego)" which i consider a compliment. I always said that I sound like myself. I'm not trying to be or sound like someone that i am not. That person already exist.
When it comes to the buzz of a new artist in the genre of alternative, music lovers cant help but mention Rain as one of the new names generating that buzz. As a new artist, his different approach to the music scene has captured the attention of ears from his hometown of Brooklyn New York but more so of the club scenes from Miami to London. Internationally, Rain has the intentions of making a clean sweep on the charts so his homecoming album (Artist Development) can have two strong legs to stand on in the dying record sales of music in the states. With the new wave of music that is beginning to develop in the industry, 19 year old Rain (who's real name is Terrain Bloomfield) fits the shoe rather well with his up tempo, fast paced music that cant help but give off a techno feel of sounds. Giving the fact that he also is aware of his roots and his appearance you may even hear Rain give a sixteen, a hook or a full track in the genre of Hip Hop or Rap.
"Versitility has always been one of my motivations and strong points. Be different and you can become a movement" said Rain. "since I can remember, whenever I hear sumthing that I would consider ear candy or progressive influencial music I would easily become a fan of that artist. I do that out of respect for their work". Rains music however, consists of multiple styles and influeces. One song you might hear something for the younger crowd when in another song could be about his own struggles as a youth growing up in the area that he did. Then you might hear sumthing totally different on a relation to what u would hear for the clubs from a Gnarles Barkley or the N.E.R.D. standpoint. However, the discovery of a artist of his calaber was more that a difficult one due to Rains natural personality and ability to stay below the lime light and out of the public eye yelling out "im different!!" like many of the youth that pursue a career in entertainment. "every year there is a new style, fashion of fad that everyone gets into. a couple of years ago the fashion was teen pregnancy, last year the fashion was retro vintage style and being a member of a group. this year the fashion was being so called different to the point where everyone still ended up looking the same. rolling into 2009, ironicly the new fashion is being a self-proclaimed artist or a designer. thats where i decided to try and remain out of the public eye while releasing music to the streets". And thats exactly what he did but its impossible to make music and not be noticed or even known. So with the rising demand for Rains music he is left with no other choice but to give the listeners what they want. After one of my Atlanta performances, I was told by a well known artist "Rain, the kids want that spazz out sh*!. Music is a drug. They want drugs. Be the supplier. You gotta give them what they want right?"
