He is one of 6 children, and the only boy, born to Wilbur and Connie Tucker. The son of a minister, Wilbur Lee grew up singing in churches across the mid-west and spent many Sunday afternoons singing to the sick and elderly living in nursing homes. Wilbur Lee moved to Collinsville, Ok. in 1980 and went on to graduate from Collinsville High School in 1989. An all-star football player and all conference baseball player, sports, horses and music was a way of life. He attended college at Rogers State University in Claremore, Ok. where he studied horse management and attended the Hank Thompson School of Country Music. Wilbur Lee also learned to play the guitar with the help of Eldon Shamblim. To support himself, Wilbur worked on a 4,500 acre ranch in Rogers County and trained reigning and roping horses on the side. Professional Biography: Wilbur Lee's professional music career began shortly after high school. In 1990 he was chosen as the lead male vocalist for Music Country USA, a performance put on 4 nights a week in Grove, Ok. From there, he went on to play in clubs and honky-tonks across Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi to name a few. Wilbur Lee quickly made a name for himself and was asked to open for acts like John Michael Montgomery, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, Doug Stone, Joe Diffie, Aaron Tippin, Ray Price and many more. Last fall he performed at a "Day in the Country" in front of an estimated 68,000 people. The concert was an all day country music extravaganza featuring a number of Nashville's biggest artists. Wilbur Lee also opened for Chris LeDoux at Oklahoma's Big Country Weekend, a 2-day event featuring a calf fry, rodeo, cowboy games and much more. He's also performed at the Hee Haw Show in Pigeon Forge, TN. As comfortable on stage as he is on a horse, Wilbur Lee has also been given the repeated honor of performing at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV. during the National Finals Rodeo. Wilbur Lee has often mentioned the road from Oklahoma to Tennessee is as familiar as the country 2-step. It's during that long drive he's written a number of songs as a former staff writer for Sony Tree Publishing. Wilbur Lee has also just recorded a new cd with MEGA Records USA - Nashville Each song on the cd, "Bumpin' & Grindin', " is written by Wilbur Lee. A few are co-written by a handful of other Nashville songwriters. Rodeo Biography: A member of the Professional Rodeo and Cowboy Association, United States Team Roping Championship, North American Team Roping Association, American Quarter-Horse Association, Rope America and International Pro Rodeo Association, Wilbur Lee is often seen in the arena long before it comes time to hit the stage. Some of his accomplishments in the arena include top honors at Congress, North American and the World Show. Whether it's in the rodeo arena or on stage, Wilbur Lee's talent, good looks and charm make him a natural performer. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ TO HEAR MORE OF WILBUR LEE TUCKER'S SONGS GO TO - WILBUR LEE TUKCER AT MYSPACE. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ FOR BOOKINGS: EMAIL CHARLES DUKE AT DUKESMUSIC@AOL.COM. ...... ...... ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ...... CORY JOHNSON - Nashville Songwriter & Artist. Cory started playing guitar when he was 14,and not very well. Cory knew about six chords (two different progressions) And after a couple of weeks Cory started writing songs (good ones for a 14 year old:). And next thing Cory knew, he started getting alot of attention from people. A friend of Cory's, who had a friend who had a band. Cory got to go sit in with this band. They would hide, Cory beside the drums on a little stool and Cory would get up and do a couple of songs. So from then on, Cory was hooked! In January of 1990 (at age 28) Cory made his move to Nashville (where the lights are bright and the stars are burned out!) Cory got to see what the real music business was like. Songwriters everywhere,in the rounds, writers nights. Cory knocked on doors and played all his wonderful songs for anyone who would listen. Cory heard things like: heard it, it's already been done, are you from Oklahoma? Cory was told by Garth Brooks Manager, I know your from Oklahoma by the way your jeans stack on your boots! And my favorite stories on Cory is, he was told: "Man! I love your lyrics but you need to work on your melodies" can you come back on thursday? I've got a guy I want you to write with. So Cory went back on thursday and the other guy didn't show, So this guy says play me some more of your stuff (Thats what they call music down in Nashville). So Cory played him some more of "my stuff". And he says" Man I love your melodies but you need to work on your lyrics". But didn't ask Cory to come back .So Cory drove to his apartment in the rain and started writing songs about rain and missing home and all that crap! And one day, Cory woke up and the rain had stopped. So Cory drove back down to music row and went to a.s.c.a.p. (look it up). And met a guy named John Briggs. What a guy he was and is! Anyway, Cory joined ASCAP and went back home. Later that afternoon the phone rang, and it was John Briggs. He said, Hey man I was just thinking do you play basketball? So he invited Cory out to play with a bunch of guys in the music business. So when Cory got there John started introducing him to everyone as a great new writer that just moved to town. And everyone said "COOL"(thats what they say down there). So Cory continued to play basketball every tues.night and met some great guys. One guy, Cory met was James Dean Hicks who wrote songs like Goodbye Time, It Takes a Little Rain, Grandpa Told Me So. One night Cory asked him, if I could set up a meeting and play him some of "my stuff"(trying to fit in). And he said sure, I'd love to hear it. And so began Cory's few years as a "Songwriter". Well James and Cory wrote alot of songs and he got everything in Cory's catalog (thats where they put your "songs") put on hold at one time or another. Cory got so close to making it on to John Michael Montgomery's Album with a song called "When It Rains I Pour"And Rick Trevino with a song called "Knock Knock Who Cares"Well anyway that was pretty close! In 1993, Cory decided to try and do this from home, and kind of just let life take over. So Cory is back in Oklahoma, still dreaming. Cory still have alot of great friends in Nashville and see them alot, and Cory's still holding out for that one great song! Music On The Move Publishing is here to make every possible change for Cory Johnson's great song to become a HIT ! ! ! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ FOR BOOKINGS: EMAIL CHARLES DUKE AT DUKESMUSIC@AOL.COM. ...... ...... -
