   About Tahuna Breaks
Since their beginnings in January 2005, Tahuna Breaks have always been a band built upon a simple philosophy- the love of music. With an open mind and an adventurous spirit, unafraid to mix genres and musical stylings- their ‘anything goes’ and sometimes unconventional approach is governed only by two criteria: passion and energy. The lifeblood of this band is live performance and it is from countless live gigs and tours that they have crafted their own brand of roots reggae, funk, soul and good old fashioned rock and roll. Put simply this is a band that thrives on working hard and winning audiences over.
In October of 2007, two and half years after the band formed, the Auckland-based group celebrated the release of their debut album, 'Reflections,' to rave reviews across the board. The album has held the number 3 spot on the Independent charts and two of its tracks have been included on successive NZ on Air "Kiwi Hitdisks". Accompanying the album, the band had three music videos for 'Voodoo", "Real Life" and "Casually Acquainted" which have all sat on music TV playlists nationwide. In 2008, the band received the Juice TV Music Award for Best Roots / Electronica Video for the release of 'Real Life', coming in on top of an impressive lineup of New Zealand’s heavyweight acts. Tahuna Breaks got its start back in the day when two school friends started jamming out; Timmy G rocking out on the drums with James Winkle laying down the basslines. Soon, old family friend, Marty Greentree, joined the mix as lead lyricist and vocalist. Throwing in a bit of style and a feminine touch, friend and saxophone player Kelsey Serjeant jumped in after catching up with the boys at a concert. The bands first practice space was on Tahuna St in Auckland, lending them not only a place to jam, but also their name. Through the years they’ve moved from a garage in Onehunga, to the west coast at Piha, and finally back to Auckland. A small carpet-clad storage space near the quays in downtown Auckland now houses the band and their tunes. Without worry of disturbing the neighbours, they can rock out and let the creative genius flow. Along the journey, the band has expanded to include Tim Baker on the trumpet, Jonny McClean on sax, Adam “Young Blood” Fuhr on the keys, and Tom Charleson on the guitar. Their music has only grown richer with the addition of each member, leading to an amazing sound, unmatched anywhere in New Zealand

From the very beginning, they've had a reputation for getting the party started. With countless tours under their belt, including several sell out shows around New Zealand and international commitments in Australia, the band is rapidly gaining recognition and praise. Tahuna Breaks continues to take big steps and with a hectic 2009 on the horizon, we can expect great things from the band. We can look forward to some major Festival appearances, several tours (including a return to Australian shores) and the much-anticipated release of their second album ‘Black, Brown & White’ in August.

A man died after the media killed him 'bout 15 years ago. I respect that man for all the marvellous talents he had to be the absolutely great artist he was. But, unfortunatley thanks to what he has done to his body, he had to suffer an early death…I hope where he's now he will find peace.
And I hope that many people stop follow the media, because the media does not foster artists who realize their own ideas, but boost preformers who do what the media (big business) tells them to do...
RIPMJ

God Bless You

PS: I respect all independent artists; it's easier for men to sell his soul than to find himself. An artist realize his own idea, lives and gives his true messages, a performer plays what the masses want or is dictated to hear, it isn't his own idea, that's why he has to sell himself to Babylon System. An artist is a medium out of himself, a perfomer is also a medium but actualy plays for another medium (the media), because he has sold his soul...

What happened in America in the days of old
It seems that it let us cold what we’ve been told
The Red Indians were friendly and did shake hand
With white men who cheeky took away their land
Peace was taken away, but what has been brought?
By envy, greed and lust of evil humans got caught!
Thanks to the urge of rivalry and competition
Human beings has lost their way in creation
Their brains full of nonsense and they even think it’s cool
Believe me; such a life only can be lived by some fool
If there is more you’d like to know
Go ahead and open the link below;-)

It has begun so well. It was a historical moment in America. Obama was elected as the first coloured president in history; he did promise a lot of changes. Little time ago he has broken his promise with his signature to continue wars in middle east. With this step he has dissapointed a lot of people in the world - not only Americans - who did believe in him. Who did believe in what he did promise, who did believe that he will bring some needed changes. What are his daughters thinking of their father? Politic is a hard business. I respect all those who are facing the responsability to lead a nation. But I believe also, that right there is a big mistake. Politicians should not being involved in other responsabilities than in politic, I mean politicians should represent the interest of their nation, the interest of the common people! Instead of that many of them are involved in to business, leading an enterprise or even a great intercontinental trust. But these interests - that's what I am thinking - are missleading them into false decicions followed by consequences for the whole nation. The government should replace those politicians who are involved in deception maneuvers, chicaneries and power plays by politicians who really care about the common people (included the poor, of course!), about the nation, the SISWE! I am dreaming, I know, because those who would care about the nation, most probably don't have the money to campaign. And as in all corners of the world the need or even lust of money is like a stronghold, changes are just dreams which dissapears like mists. But I still have some grains of hope and they will grow like big trees and bringing fruit...and besides other activities I will also use this page to plant some seeds...

Well, these are my humble thoughts...
God Bless You

So many raindrops crackle on my head - Another story of HipHop...

European political scientists recognize the possibilty that real HipHop could be a potential tool to explain political concerns; and real HipHop is revolutionary in it...

"Mother Earth isn't numb!"

"we rely too much on money...."

"I still hope that humanity will finally find peace!"

Some American Myspace-users did ask me if I have a translation of the Swiss HipHop track I shared last month, so I did post a blog with my free translation of those lyrics...
