Musictrade is an international community-based netlabel focusing on electronic music. Our agenda is to release interesting, imaginative and impressive electronic music for your enjoyment - for free, with no strings attached.
Our albums are released under the liberal Creative Commons Attribution licenses, and they are available from both Internet Archive and BitTorrent in high audio quality, complete with hi-resolution cover artwork. Feel free to copy and broadcast our music, share it on p2p, include it in your own mixes and compilations, recycle anything useful from it into your own creative works. Just credit the artists appropriately.
The Artists
Doc & Lena Selyanina
Doc is an ambient producer and composer from Finland. He debuted on Musictrade's Sola Muusika 2005 compilation (MT001) which was followed by his first full album release Distant Transmissions - Ambient Reflections on Bach (MT002) in co-operation with Russian pianist Lena Selyanina. Doc performed in Norberg 2005 electronic music festival in a Musictrade showcase and contributed two tracks to Musictrade's Norberg 2005 Field Mixes album (MT003).
In November 2005 Doc and lena released their second ambient co-creation An Island of Joy (In a Sea of Electronic Dreams) (MT004), an avantgardistic meditative work inspired by Claude Debussy's 'water music'. Doc then contributed two tracks to Musictrade's New Orleans tribute album Requiems for a Submerged City (MT005) and finished his productive year 2005 with a lighthearted dance album Nein Absolut Nicht (MT006) built on the soundworld from a single episode of the German police series 'Der Alte'.
In March 2006 Doc and Lena released their third neoclassical ambient album: Noble, Sentimental and Ambient Waltzes (MT008), inspired by Maurice Ravel's series of waltzes for the piano. Their fourth album, Echoes from an Engulfed Cathedral (MT011), came out in January 2007. This album was again based on Claude Debussy's music. Doc's MySpace page is here.
Softspace
Softspace is an electronica artist from England. He debuted in November 2005 on Musictrade's Requiems for a Submerged City (MT005). In March 2006 he released his first full album Experiments at the Edge of Time (MT007), followed by Mahler's Cat (MT009) in April 2006. His wide style palette includes synth electronica, ambient, experimental electronica with field recording and foundsound materials and radiophony style sound collages. KraftiM
KraftiM is an electronica/ambient artist and sound architect from Holland. He debuted in August 2005 on Musictrade's Norberg 2005 Field Mixes album (MT003), contributed two tracks to Musictrade's New Orleans tribute album Requiems for a Submerged City (MT005) in November 2005, and further contributed two tracks to Ice Mustard (MT010) compilation in January 2007. Electroteque
Electroteque is an electronica/ambient artist from Sydney, Australia. He debuted in 2004 on Clan Analogue release CA034 Doppler Shift. He performed in the Sola Muusika event in Tallinn, Estonia, in February 2005 and released 2 tracks on Musictrade's consequent Sola Muusika compilation (MT001). He also performed in Norberg electronic music festival both in years 2004 and 2005 and contributed two tracks to Musictrade's Norberg 2005 Field Mixes album (MT003). In January 2007 he contributed a track to 'Ice Mustard' compilation (MT010). Electroteque's MySpace page is here.
Unknown Forces
Unknown Forces is an ambient/electronica artist from Scotland. He debuted 2001 with album "Possible Cult Soundtrack to a film that will never be filmed" (DL001), followed by "The difficult second album" (DL002) and Dream EP (DL003) next year. He has made contributions to several VA compilations since, including Audiobulb's Root of Sine Vol 1 (2003), Saasfee's Lappland (2004) and Hippocamp's HC100 (2004).
Besides gigs within UK Unknown Forces has performed in Sola Muusika event in Tallinn, Estonia, in February 2005, contributing two tracks to Musictrade's Sola Muusika compilation (MT001), and in Norberg 2005 electronic music festival in Sweden as one of the Musictrade's showcase artists, contributing a track to the consequent Norberg 2005 Field Mixes album (MT003). He also contributed a track to Ice Mustard compilation (MT010) in January 2007. His musical influences include Robert Rich, Steve Roach, Cold Meat Industry artists, Boards of Canada, Morr Music artists and Chain Reaction artists; styles cover electronica, ambient and dark ambient. Frags
Frags is an electronica artist from Sweden. He debuted on Musictrade's release Norberg 2005 Field Mixes (MT003) in August 2005 and further contributed two tracks to Ice Mustard compilation (MT010) in January 2007.
The Music
The album download links get you complete zip packages of the albums including LAME HVBR encoded songs plus complete artwork and release notes. For the more recent releases there are also 24bit FLAC audiophile versions available via BitTorrent, also containing artwork and release notes. All material is released under Creative Commons Attribution licenses – so feel free to share, broadcast and distribute our music and to use it in your own artistic creations, whether commercial or non-commercial.
