WAM (the West Australian Music Industry Association Inc.) exists to develop the contemporary music industry in WA. WAM is non profit membership based association and the peak representative body for contemporary music in WA.
WAM runs two major events each year – The WAMi Festival, Australia’s largest celebration of local original contemporary music, and the WAM Song of the Year, a statewide search for WA’s best songwriting talent. A massive CD-DVD compilation is produced annually to complement the WAMi Festival.

WAM Song of the Year 2008 introduces the NEW Café Category to showcase smooth, chilled and relaxing vibes. The Braziliano Coffee team are ecstatic to be working with WAM on developing the new Café category as part of the annual Song of the Year competition.
“Our hope is that this year's Café category will capture the very spirit of music's contribution to Australia's café society. We look forward to hearing some of those smooth, chilled, relaxing sounds we have all grown to know and love, created right here in Western Australia - like Braziliano coffee. Australia's coffee culture has built not just on the fuel that is quality coffee, but also on the relaxing environment offered by ones local café. Music is a vital component of this. For centuries, coffee and music have worked together. The new Café Song of the Year category gives us the opportunity to document their unique relationship.” - JOHN FERRARI, Marketing Manager for European Foods Wholesalers.
WAM Song of the Year is a perfect opportunity for songwriters and of all ages from all regions of WA to gain industry recognition and win great prizes. Entrants must live in Western Australia to be eligible.
