THE SONGS

Feeling Far ;;;
July 25, 2009; 1 year! This is the first song with lyrics that I've written and recorded. It is a song about the infinite depths of God. It talks about how you can seek God and know Him deeply, but no matter how far or how deep you go, there is still an infinity of Him left to know. You can delve into His ocean, but when you look around, you find you are only standing ankle-deep in the water. You can climb His mountain for years and still find that you have only taken a few steps from the base. Obviously, this isn't a bad thing - it only goes to show how great is His love and glory, and how small and dependent on Him we are.

Take A Bite ;;;
December 30, 2007; 2 months. The melody came one night when I was driving home with my parents, and of course I rushed to record it as soon as we got home. The rest just followed. Also known in my head as "The Aftershock Song."

Red Lines ;;;
summer 2007; 2 hours. OMG, Sarah sings! The lyrics came on a whim. They are pretty random, but they rhyme, so what the heck. xD

Scintillate ;;;
July 7, 2007; 2 days. I had recorded the bass and melody tracks more than a year before, then finally turned it into a full-length song. I chose the title "Scintillate" because it sounds sparkly. :D

Dauntless ;;;
April 2007; 3 months. This song was inspired by the thought that God is always with me, so I should never be afraid. The lyrics I had in mind for the "chorus" were, "not afraid, I am not afraid, I am not afraid." :)

Out of the Daze ;;;
late 2006; 2 or 3 months. I based this song on a tiny bit of melody that I had recorded almost a year previously, and that became the melody that you hear through the whole song. The drum tracks are premade GarageBand loops.

Moonset ;;;
late 2005; who knows how long it took. I started with the underlying background line, then I built upon that with melody, harmony, etc. The title was inspired by how the melody is constantly descending, and I guess it sounds outer-space-y.

Badlands ;;;
summer 2005; a few days. This song started with the bouncy background chords, and like many of my songs, the melody and harmony just followed. My dad gave me the title for it, saying that when he heard the song, he pictured himself riding on his motorcycle through the Badlands.
