fine show as always, especially enjoyed the beautiful dreamy production: "A Necessary End" by Saltillo, and the great evolving variations on the main theme in "Dett" by Plaid.
Btw, cool intro picture for the show - you should sell this 216's radio in the 216's fan shop :)

interesting Kraftwerk covers with a cool "Pocket Calculator" version by Gloma in this week's show; just missed some of the really great Senor Coconut interpretations :)

wow, what a space trip and rather unusual 216 session; many interesting sound journeys in this show (and some lovely retro commercials :) ). As regular visitor of the yearly Munich festival for experimental
music, I heard a lot of familiar sound sculptures and composition approaches.
Good idea to fill the gap between sci-fi movies and electronic music!

great show: perfect mixture of CD versions, live versions, and background info/interview; also a good, diversified selection of songs; and amazing short snippets from Moby's early band involvements - the perfect early start into weekend :)

For a limited period only, pop on over to my joint to hear 5 covers recently recorded as a session for the ace MARK WHITBY'S DANDELION RADIO SHOW.
Yes, they're all covers and yes they all have 'CITY' in the title hence 'TALES FROM THE CITY'.
These are they :
SUFFRAGETTE CITY - MR BOWIE
NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS - IKE AND TINA TURNER
THE TRAIN FROM KANSAS CITY - THE SHANGRI LAS
SIN CITY - AC/DC
WE BUILT THIS CITY - JEFFERSON STARSHIP
Four of those tunes have been treated with the respect they deserve and one of those cities has been visited by the wrecking ball, come find out which one.....

The wonderful month of September gets off to a spiffing start with an exclusive LORD NUMB session on MARK WHITBY'S SEPTEMBER DANDELION RADIO SHOW.
The session has a Name - 'LORD NUMB'S TALES FROM THE CITY' and is made up of covers, can you guess what the link is? They are thus :
NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS - IKE AND TINA TURNER
SIN CITY - AC/DC
THE TRAIN FROM KANSAS CITY - SHANGRI LAS
SUFFRAGETTE CITY - DAVID BOWIE
WE BUILT THIS CITY - JEFFERSON STARSHIP (this one ain't strictly a cover, more of a 're-imagining' if you will).
These tunes are 100% exclusive for MARK W and can't be heard anywhere else so if you want to hear a proper mangling of WE BUILT THIS CITY, your search is over - tune in : -)

Over and out,
NUMB
Ps: The wondrous Pete Jackson also has NUMB tune BRAIN STEM in his show this month as well as an eye watering session from THE CHASM'S.

again found some new electronic pearls in a 216's show, such as the real good tracks "Around The World", "Chip Carter", and "The Voice". Btw, a perfect addition to the sound of the Kropp and Darkmen tracks could have been a track of "and one".

Apropos musique, the tinopener's art again released some fresh tracks:
Schattenland - a dark end time poem converted into cold floating sound.
Fast Friday - a synthpop song full of friday feeling.

interesting subject and fine show, U.L.A's singing robot-girl, Kraftwerk meets Duran Duran on a SCSI interface, a really thrilling trip with Sobaki Tabaka's Absolutnoe Net, and a great chill-out track with Alexandroid's For After. And respect for the hint regarding the Theremin, thus, one of the next shows could present some Trautonium works of Oskar Sala :)

what a wonderful show this week, I enjoyed it very much. I like the spirit of this early Sheffield decade, especially the attitude of searching for new, unheard sounds and testing new, complex song structures. It's like a journey of ancient explorers to discover "terra incognita" or like scientists on their way to the essential questions of life & universe. Great tracks alltogether, and good information in the jingles.

Mox - as usual, the Sheffield Electronics show was as brilliantly researched and informative as ever. Given how dear to my heart the time and the place are, a massive thumbs up from the UK for this one. I think a trip up the road is called for with the show on my iPod!
