Once in a while, a group of musicians sits down to play together and something magical happens. When North Carolinians Harry Tueting and Rick McDuffie met Englishman Kevin Bingley, it was just such a magical moment, and Mister Mustard was born.
Tueting and McDuffie, who hail from Wilmington, have known each other and played together since they met each other in a civics class at John T. Hoggard High School in the early 70's.. As musical partners, they have had the opportunity to share the stage with national acts like The Charlie Daniels Band, The Kentucky Headhunters and Exile. McDuffie is well-known in the Raleigh area as a jazz musician, and Tueting was a founding member of the Chapel Hill-based rock band Rain Dance.
Bingley is a native of Rugby, England, and has been performing since the 1960s. He toured extensively as a sound tech with the Elton John Band, and was a bandmate of Ric Grech- who, along with Ginger Baker, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, comprised Blind Faith- widely recognized as the world's first "Supergroup".
Featuring strong vocals, tight harmonies, blistering instrumental work and solid songwriting, Mister Mustard pays tribute to influences like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elton John, CCR, The Band, etc., but also serves up a plateful of hot, spicy new material. All four members sing lead and harmony, play a variety of instruments, and write. Mister Mustard's gigs are remarkable mostly because they're just fun - Harry, Rick and Kevin really are good buddies, and they revel in sharing good music with their friends. The onstage comraderie and chemistry is contagious!
