Mutts & Mitts of Brooklyn is a non-profit corporation committed to the following community services:
Offering safe and loving individual and family foster homes for stray, abused, or unwanted companion animals. Soon to be a New Hope Partner with the Animal Care and Control Center of NYC, we will also remove several dogs and cats each month, many from the euthanasia list and place them within our rescue organization.
Our animals are spayed or neutered and receive thorough and necessary medical attention. Once these foster animals are physically and emotionally ready, we secure them a companion in an appropriate loving, permanent home.
Representatives from MMOB regularly attend workshops and classes to remain current on rescue methods and philosophies. We believe in encouraging the public to educate themselves on the proper care for their pets, which includes the importance of spaying and neutering to help stop the flow of abandoned and unwanted animals in our community. We also consistently develop our relationships with other rescue organizations so we may exchange information to help locate lost pets and rescue abandoned and abused animals.
As one of our current projects, we are collaborating with Slope Street Cats, a TNR feral cat resource org, to help home "friendlies" - which are cats or kittens found in feral colonies who could be easily domesticated. This is a very exciting project as we can extend our reach to the grassroots aspect of change within the field of rescue.

Who I'd like to meet: People interested in being foster families to dogs or cats who have been found or surrendered in the community or removed from the kill-shelter but have not yet found their forever homes.
Volunteers to help transport animals within the community to foster or adoptive homes, or from the Brooklyn Animal Care & Control to new homes or our adoption events.
Volunteers who can help out throughout the week with screening and home checks for potential adopters.
Volunteers to assist in the walking of dogs for our foster families.
