After many shows all over Europe it can not be denied that Make Up Your Mind has got what it takes to get a party going! This Ska-punk n roll party band from the Netherlands always succeeds in getting a crowd to dance and jump to their happy music. Next to getting everyone to move their feet we also want to tell the message that faith is far from boring. That being a Christian is not dull but its a .... of a party! Seven completely different, chaotic and super motivated guys bounce around the stage telling you who's The man and what he does in their lives.
This band started some 5 years ago as a couple of friends, coming from the same church community, who wanted to make the youth more enthusiastic about going to church. They started by updating the old Christian songs by kicking out the organ, grabbing some drums and a guitar. From this the band gradually evolved in what it is today; an international playing rockband bringing you a great mix of ska, punk and rock n roll, but still sharing the same vision; letting as many people as possible know and see that Christianity is not boring and overshadowed by al kind of rules, but that it makes live an interesting party!
Wondering why we are called Make Up Your Mind? The answer is simple; we could not decide how to name our band. Several options were mentioned and no conclusions were drawn. Then somebody shouted: What is it gonna be boys, make up your mind! . We all looked at each other and said: Thats it! Since then we made it our goal to let you decide and make up YOUR mind! We want you to think about the meaning and worth of your life. Hopefully our music will give you a couple of tips in what direction we think you should look; Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour.
Hold on Tied, you’ll be blown away!
The Dutch ska punk ‘n roll band Make Up Your Mind released their second full-length album ‘Hold on Tied!’ for the German fanbase at the 21st of April 2007 at the Balinger Rockfestival. Finally after over a year of writing and recording it is finished, and the result is a full length album containing 12 songs, filled with a variety of sounds. Since there last album ‘Gamble’ (2003), the band has evolved a lot, gained a two headed horn section a new drummer and two new guitar players. This change in line-up also brought some new musical inspiration into the band. The happy ska sound and funky danceable tunes gradually made it’s way into the music even more, without displacing the original punk-rock roots of the band. This makes the new album an album filled with different styles greatly blended into the new songs.
Themes like smelly socks, a van breaking down, how to deal with temptations and ultimate love are embedded in the lyrics of ‘Hold on Tied’. “Holding” on strong to their believes, the band gives an insight in their world of being on the road, dealing with everyday live problems and praising their Lord.
The boys of MUYM weren’t on a leave between ‘Gamble’ and ‘Hold on Tied’. Playing on more then 100 international stages, gave the band it’s current strong stage performance. With their happy music it is almost impossible not to move your feet when these guys are on stage. They claim even to get your grandmother dancing, when you bring her to one of the shows!
MUYM will give you the chance to listen to their new album for the first time at the Balinger Rock Festival in april 2007. Don’t be sad though if you cannot be there, MUYM will be touring around the coming months, playing amongst others on the Himmelfahrt Festival (Wustenrot), Ostfriesland, Rohrsdorf, Gerlingen, Hoerstival (Hoerstgen), Jesus House Party (Feucht), Jumprock (Metzingen), Gevelsberg and Kieler Nachtschicht (Kiel) and so on.
