well actually theres a reason for all that, and its actually a SCWS question.
the three components of the u.s. government that are allowed to carry a fully automatic rifle are the secret service, the special forces and the seabees.
the reason why WE can carry fully automatic rifles is because we don't carry a SAW like the infantry does. yes we do have crew served weapons but we don't utilize them in the same manner as the infantry.
