This is a tribute page dedicated to Liberty University students, especially alumni who graduated between the years of 1995 and 1998.
In 1995, a Liberty University student by the name of Marc Andre released a 2-song cassette album called "My Almamater." Marc collected tapes of chapel sermons and used snippets from various speakers to compile a number of samples which he then incorporated into a rap song which he wrote and produced. The song eventually made it onto the Liberty University campus radio station, C-91 The Light. The song was in heavy rotation for a number of years, and rumor has it that it is still, to this day, played occasionally on the campus radio station.
In 1996, a friend of Marc's produced a music video for "My Almamater." Marc sold nearly 400 copies of this video on the campus of Liberty University, and used the proceeds of this project to purchase his first computer-based recording system.
In 1997, Marc Andre re-released "My Almamater" on CD with two new songs entitled "Jerryland" and "Red Mudd."
Nearly 10 years later, Marc Andre is still producing music, although his style changed and evolved dramatically over the years. Check out his latest music at www.marcandremusic.com.
Hey Marc! Long time no see! Did you know that years after we graduated LU FINALLY released that "missing" yearbook I photographed you and the other LU Bands/Artists for? Not too many copies exist, but they're out there. In speaking with alumi Paul Fink the other day, it turns out we both still have copies of your cassette!
