i may seem to have been defending servers earlier, and i was, and i am; but, i had another thought as well:
There also happens to be a few somewhat racist/prejudiced servers out there as well.
So we've got an absent waiter and a non-tipping customer...wait, this story seems familiar.
Seems no-one wins, huh? It's a vicious cycle, whether in strictly restaurant etiquette, or with the racial history as well. Same ol' story just keeps goin' on and on...

I encourage you to support the campaign to incorporate a comprehensive study of racism into the American academic system, and make it a prerequisite for graduation; by writing your local and state representatives, the dept. of education in your state, and also by writing to the Attorney General at the US Justice Department and President Barack Obama expressing your endorsement of this endeavor.
