Every day, millions of people get on the internet and check email, facebook, myspace, and other websites, and many people actually check these sites multiple times throughout the day.
All of these activities take no less than 10 seconds, and people do them somewhat systematically, whether through bookmarks or desktop links.
Websites are becoming more and more popular as business ventures and whatnot, as people keep digging for an idea to make them the next dot-com billionaire. People have neglected the true power of the internet, which is the ability to link billions of people around the world together to form one incredible network. Within that network are opportunities to help each other, but people seem blinded by the potential to earn money.
Just recently, I have launched a project that seeks to take advantage of the network of people brought together on a daily basis by the internet. I have created a website and a non-profit organization with the help of some friends, and I hope to make it the largest internet support group the world has ever seen.
Unlike most charity websites, there is no need to make an account, no need to make donations, and no need to take long amounts of time out of your life to help other people. All you have to do is visit the website once a day and vote for the charity that you wish to support. It takes 5 seconds from your day (less than checking your facebook or email) and it is something that you can do to make a big difference in other people's lives.
Imagine this:
no $ and 5 seconds can feed a starving child
no $ and 5 seconds can earn research grants for diseases
no $ and 5 seconds can help preserve the environment
Please make this a part of your daily life. There is not much to do, just go there once a day and help. Over a year, you could be responsible for donating up to $100 to the cause of your choice without EVER opening up your wallet.
If you decide you want to get involved, there are plenty of ways to do that on the website also.
Please take the time, care, and make it a part of your routine. Even if all you have is 5 seconds a day to give, please make the most of it.
