My Dark Star first began gigging in December 2007. They have since been compared to the likes of Joy Division, The Cure, Placebo, White Lies and various other dark romance type bands your parents may have been cool enough to listen to! We have since been very lucky in being able to play the main stage of the Hard Drive Festival 08, support local NME darlings 'Moira Stewart', support Canadian Rockers 'Chop Suicide' and headline a sold out gig at the Head of Steam Newcastle.
We were also lucky enough to qualify for the first heats of the Trillians Rock Bar Battle of the Bands, and we have recently played the Newcastle O2 academy on the Bulletproof Clubnight (Newcastle's Flagship Indie Night) proving that cross genre appeal can work! We will also be touring in July - see dates above for details.
Of course for every opportunity we've had, like any other band we've had rejections so we'd like to thank all promoters/venues who have helped us out. We know how stressful putting on gigs can be!! Most of all though, thanks to the people who keep coming to shows, we hope you continue to.
