Live Review Nov 2008
"Imagine a voice that could melt hearts, heavy beats that vibrate in your ribcage, lyrics so catchy you want to sing along, and riffs that you can’t fault, and instantly you’ve got The Exhibition. The Exhibition have the rock factor where your ears ring for ages after, and also what could be considered the pop factor with the catchiness of the lyrics in their songs. As a band, they have such range, whether it’s the ballad side of things, or the real heavy side of rock. Whatever they’re playing, you have to move to them.
I have to admit to having their EP on my phone, so when my phone rings, I get a burst of ‘The Only One’, which is instantly in my head for the rest of the day once I hear the opening notes, it almost makes me want to not answer my phone just so that I can hear more of the song.
I could sing the praises of The Exhibition all day, but that would make extremely biased, which I shouldn’t be. Instead I’ll just end by saying, go and check this band out live; I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. This is a band I could listen to all day, it also helps that they are some of the nicest people you could ever imagine to meet in a band."

Live Review 2008
"Nee Halo via The Vega Method, The Exhibition have been a long time coming. And tonight they feel fully formed, equal parts wired restraint, bittersweet and grand. 'Clean' is the sound of Halo grown up, the pent-up distaste of before with a majestic sense of space, while call to arms 'The Only One' is equal parts skyscraping, tender and reflective.
Venue struggles for lazy comparisons 'cos The Exhibition sound like no other.
Genius doesn't feel too strong a word."

Review of The Only One EP
"I may be slightly bias when it comes to The Exhibition, as I do believe them to be the best band on the Bristol circuit at the moment. But aside from that, The Only One EP is a work of pure genius; I just can’t stop listening to it. The EP has been on repeat for who knows how many times now; my neighbours must be loving me by, as it has to be played very loud so you get the true sound. If you love The Exhibition live, then you’re going to love this EP, it’s captured exactly what they are like live. There’s no over producing on this one, it’s raw like you get from them anyway.
My only disappointment is that there are only four tracks on there and a video for The Only One. They are four quality tracks of, The Only One, Fear of Heights, Lapse in Concentration and Clean. I just want more of what I get live. At the moment I can’t fault The Exhibition, they are going from strength to strength, whether it’s based on their live performances or this EP. The pure power behind them is undeniable in each and every track.
The haunting sound of Lapse in Concentration doesn’t leave you, and the keyboards slow it down enough to show you that The Exhibition can do the slower material as well as the heavier roaring material like Clean. I don’t think you can ever get sick of a voice like Gray has; it fits in so well with the material. The Exhibition certainly know what they can do.
Each time you listen to the EP, you notice something different in each track, whether it’s the power of the lyrics or the catchy riffs that run through each song. If The Exhibition aren’t signed soon, there has to be something wrong somewhere. We need a full-length album of this level soon. The Exhibition is rock at its very best, and more people need to know this."
BIOGRAPHY
Brothers Graeme and Iain Moncrieff both learned to play guitar as teenagers, and on the discovery that they could both knock out a decent tune they found inspiration to form a band.
Drummer Jim Davey and multi-instrumentalist Stevie Yeomans (who turned up for the audition with no bass guitar, no amp, and no previous experience of playing bass guitar, but possessed instead the natural skill and ability to bluff his way in as bass player) joined the brothers to form what quickly became known as Halo.
Their brand of fire-sign rock sparked an instant industry buzz and they were snapped up by Sony Records and became sucked into a whirlwind of touring, an album release (Lunatic Ride), along with a handful of singles and the Still Here EP which saw them grace the top 50 several times.
Halo came to an end in 2003 and having parted company with Sony and drummer Jim, the three remaining band members recruited man-mountain and drumming extraordinaire Blake Davies in 2004 to become The Vega Method. Their high-octane riff-laden rock was as hard and heavy as their partying had ever been, "We were on tour and after a show we were causing so much noise and commotion around the hotel that two police riot vans were called out. They busted all the rooms associated with us and arrested our tour manager who had nothing to do with any of our debauchery. We got away with no comeuppance, although he was none too happy with us in the morning when we turned up at the tour bus to find he'd spent most of the night at the police station on account of our fine selves." - Gray.
Their spell as The Vega Method saw them secure a spot on the NME new bands tour, but this was as far as they were to come as Blake had been harbouring an insatiable urge to travel the world and in 2006 he announced his departure from the band in order to follow his sense of adventure.
Blake's hard-edged drumming style had a substantial influence on The Vega Method sound and the rest of the band reluctantly concluded they had little choice but to once again start from scratch.
After a number of try-outs and one false start their final hunt for the right drummer concluded in Stevie's hometown of Knighton, in Wales. Stevie had returned for the weekend and ended up in a bar watching a gig. The drummer made a very good impression and Stevie got chatting to him afterwards. Destiny must have been shining a guiding light because Johnny B was already planning on moving to Bristol where The Exhibition are based and agreed to try out for the band.
The deal was sealed in a rehearsal room by a river late in 2007.
We can now fast forward through the incident where the whole newly completed band were almost wiped out during a blizzard at dusk in an ill-advised skiing expedition and through an intense period of rehearsing and refining their sound.
Their music combines grand and soaring guitar work, layered with huge three-part harmonies and interwoven with largely dark yet brightly emotive lyrics.
The Exhibition's debut release The Only One EP was released in December 2008 on the band's own record label Rags to Rags Records, and their first single All The Stars was released in August 2009.
