Agressivity, technique, melodic and guttural voices. That’s how My Fair Lady presents themselves. Formed in 2008 by Samuel Alcântara (vocals), Artur Alcântara and Felipe Facó (guitars), Rodrigo Gomes (drums and vocals), Victor Sampaio (bass) and Victor Catrib (keys and synths), the music composed by the band intends to mix different metal styles, from death metal to progressive.

My Fair Lady assumed this name in reference to a famous Broadway musical based in a history of change and transformation of a simple flower seller who turned into a lady of society. With themes dealing with the internal and external conflicts of the human mind in face of others and itself, it’s like finding yourself in a constant free fall.

Surrounded by lyrics which express disturbed feelings and suffocated anxieties, the themes of My Fair Lady broach the ambiguity that exists within each one, the eternal conflict and the memory of the insecurity that lives inside us. Many people believe that wounds can be plugged when actually it must be poked. Only then it will have changes. As it says the band music entitled “Collapse of Closed Minds”, which deals with repressed feelings that are exposed in such a way to release an always saved hatred.

Now, the next step will be release in this year by the independent label Empire Records, their first studio work, the “Collapse of a Lifetime” EP containing five tracks. The first full-length album is planned for 2010.

O nome reforça o My Fair Lady, que se nomeou assim em referência a um famoso musical da Broadway, baseado na história de mudança e transformação de uma simples vendedora de flores em uma dama da sociedade. Com temáticas que abordam conflitos internos e externos da mente humana, diante dos outros e de si mesmo, é como se deparar em queda livre, constantemente.

Cercado de letras profundas que expressam sentimentos conturbados e angústias sufocadas, os temas do My Fair Lady abordam a ambigüidade que existe dentro de cada um, o eterno conflito e a lembrança da insegurança que mora em nós. Muitos acham que feridas podem ser tapadas quando na verdade devem ser cutucadas. Só assim haverá mudança. Como diz a música da banda intitulada de “Collapse of Closed Minds”, que trata de sentimentos reprimidos que são expostos de tal forma a liberar um ódio sempre guardado.

Mesmo com o pouco tempo de estrada, a banda fez várias apresentações na capital cearense e fora do estado. Agora, o próximo passo será lançar neste ano, pelo selo independente Empire Records, seu primeiro trabalho de estúdio, o EP “Collapse of a Lifetime”, contendo cinco faixas. O primeiro full-length álbum está previsto para 2010.
