.. .. .. ............ .. Our band started as a group of close friends playing music they loved in high school... .. In spring of 2008 we had an amazing opportunity; we took a cross country drive to California and played a few very important shows. We came back a different band, people over the course of time change and that is simply what happened. It was clear not everyone was 100% dedicated to making our band work, we as a band made one of the most difficult decisions we had ever made; shortly after we had a new lead singer... .. With our new singer we finished writing what would have become our debut full length. We had an amazing tour with There for Tomorrow and Hey Monday and spent five weeks recording in Chicago. We also had a few important shows coming up at the end of this summer in New York City as well as an east coast tour with someone who is a very familiar face from the central Florida area in October. We pulled down our myspace a few weeks ago to focus on our shows and prepare for our tour. We were going to come back a stronger band, with a new name and a brand new full length in September. As for the full length it is completed, we are very proud of it and we know a lot of people would have loved it... .. All that changed when Evan, our lead singer, unexpectedly quit our band last week. Not only was he the only person not financially tied to our full length or the well being of My Getaway; he obviously wasn’t committed to the band or most importantly, you, the fans. We sat on this dilemma and have decided it would be best for everybody if we no longer continue as a band in this format... .. We want to thank all of our fans and the amazing people we have met over the last six years, the incredible bands and the unforgettable stories. It was an amazing ride and we wouldn’t change it for the world. .. .. ..Thank you and we love you all... .. .. ..

..Untitled (Slow Song) -.. Was written right around the time of Jessie's Song, after our first East Coast tour. The tour was during the winter and we did it in a small mini-van dragging a trailer. Looking back it was a nightmare but absolutely created some amazing memories. The song is really personal, and although immature its exactly how we were feeling at that point in time... .. ..Summertime -.. This song is a b-Side from our full length. It was not recorded in Chicago, it was originally a joke pop-punk song that we put the final touches on. It almost made the album but in the end was discarded because it stuck out like a sore thumb... .. ..Under Your Sheets -.. The first 'real' song that we wrote. I just remember being extremely excited after leaving the studio with this song. To this day I still love every little thing about it... .. ..Jessie's Song -.. So simple, we all equally love and hate this song. It was a lot of fun to play live because it always got the biggest crowd response. The first time we played it live was at the House of Blues. We were so nervous we ran through our set with almost 17 minutes left on our time. John and Josh put on an impromptu performance of it as our last song. The song wasn't even finished yet... .. ..We Don't Bother -.. This song is directly about a house our band rented. It was 4,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms and probably the most hectic year of any of our lives. We basically destroyed the house but had some killer parties. The group vocals were actually recorded during one of our house parties by our very friends. RIP Flaxton Lane. .. .. ..Pour Me Another One -.. One of the last songs we wrote at the house we all lived in. It basically is exactly what living in that house was like. It became our little anthem. Good little song, good memories, fun times... .. ..Satellites -.. Satellites is an awesome song because it is the first song that Josh wrote a majority of for our band. Up until that point Josh mostly dealt with our music but in this song he helped write lyrics and melody. It's definitely one of my favorite songs to this day.
