The Kinks, The Jam, The Who, The Beatles, Free, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul Weller, Foo Fighters, QOTSA, Kings Of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, The Fratellis, Small Faces, Badfinger, ELO, Squeeze. . . .Many More
A three piece Indie/Pop/Rock band hailing from the mean streets of West London
As an Originals band we are focused on creating a unique sound that sends tingles up your spine and out of your ears! We feel we have our own little twist that is instantly recognisable and has a real “feel good factor”.
(But we’ll let you decide)
We all have a very wide eclectic taste in music, and we try and pass this down through our music so you hear things in our music you might not hear elsewhere? We all love the music from the ‘Swinging Sixties’, such as band like The Kinks, The Beatles, BadFinger ect. But we all listen to everything in between then and now, bands like The Who, Small Faces, ELO, Squeeze, The Jam, The Fratellis and the list goes on . . and on!
Since forming back in 2005, we’ve been lucky to do many things and have had many opportunitys, we’ve meet people many other bands aren’t likley to meet - Ever! So we are grateful to EVERYONE who has given us advice/surport over the years and we hope we have put your advice to good practice ;-)
SURFACE UNSIGNED - "Stage 1 Showcase Review"
Wednesday 11th March 2009 @ The Boston Music Rooms, London
Words by David Couchman
My Mate Kate, have that instantly recognisable spark, the rock rhythm that was spawned by The Kinks, The Jam, those hard-hitting pop tunes that sowed the seeds of indie. I can imagine them as an act that cements themselves with gig after gig, pubs, clubs and bars; not a far stretch of reality from the Boston Arms I know. Those hard hitting bands are a varied and indescribable bunch, much like My Mate Kate, a band that is hard to peg, and for all the right reasons. They ended on a high note, with a song that advertised their strengths and a strong rock harmony that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
"Semi-Final Showcases Review"
Sunday 19th July 2009 @ The Dome, London
Words by David Couchman
To get this far in the competition is admiral and I cannot find a fault with this band, or their music. Their Clean cut image is reminiscent of Paul Weller/the Jam and part of me thinks that the mod influence is strong and that, to a degree, people are still very happy to listen to it, as am I. The vocals and tricky three part harmonies show a reasonable amount of talent, but then what else would you expect after three years together?
