My Million Dollar Year is a year-long project where I make a million dollars and document the entire process, on camera, and at www.mymilliondollaryear.net.
Why? Because I'm 25 and $40k in debt due to an education. After a few years of an unheated apartment I decided I needed to change my life, that I needed to do something drastic. Something like ... making a million dollars.
My name is Astrid, and 2005 is My Million Dollar Year.

WHO I'D LIKE TO MEET
Every cool multi-celled organism that has ever existed, from freaky looking deep sea fish with lights on their heads to Tupac. Starting with you.
MY HEROES
Everyone who has managed to do something interesting when they didn't have the education, money, or influence to make sure it was easy.
Some famous people I dig:
- Richard Branson. I am endlessly inspired by how this man manages to have joie de vivre oozing out of eve ry pore in his body. Some people say "Hey, it's easy to be happy when you own a few countries," but I get the impression that he doesn't have this endless positivity because he's rich, but he's rich because of the endless positivity.
- Donald Trump. Anyone who can get over a billion dollars in the hole and still not quit and manage to rise up out of it again - and wear a combover the WHOLE TIME - is someone to be learned from.
- Malcolm McLaren. The more I read about Malcolm McLaren the more he repulses and fascinates me. The whole exploiting musicians for personal gain - repugnant. But the inventing a cultural phenomenon and pulling the strings from backstage I can't help but admire. His ability to have a vision and make it reality as well as a huge money-making endeavour, and having such a keen sense of what the audience wanted and would spend money on, is really fascinating. I'm of two minds about him.
