You are Strength
Courage, strength, fortitude. Power not arrested in the act of judgement, but passing on to further action, sometimes obstinacy.
This is a card of courage and energy. It represents both the Lion's hot, roaring energy, and the Maiden's steadfast will. The innocent Maiden is unafraid, undaunted, and indomitable. In some cards she opens the lion's mouth, in others she shuts it. Either way, she proves that inner strength is more powerful than raw physical strength. That forces can be controlled and used to score a victory is very close to the message of the Chariot, which might be why, in some decks, it is Justice that is card 8 instead of Strength. With strength you can control not only the situation, but yourself. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining one's personal honor. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.
"It's no mistake that Victoria labels her songs as "urban folk." Each of her acoustic tunes has a certain concrete-scented charm, like the life story of a stranger passing by on the street." - Lyndzapalooza

Hey, how are you? Thank you for finding my band on line! Recently we've been taking a new direction with music, focusing on melodic 3-part harmonies, layered over folk/jazz/blues guitar progressions and shaker/djembe percussion. I'm thrilled that this new style is finally capturing the sound that has haunted my imagination since I began writing songs at age six.
UPDATED RECORDINGS REFLECTING THIS NEW DIRECTION WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON. UNTIL THEN, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO CHECK OUT THE LIVE VIDEOS AVAILABLE BELOW AND COME EXPERIENCE US LIVE BY ATTENDING A SHOW. :-D
I am constantly impressed by, and immensely grateful for, the incredible talent of my two co-singers, Dena Epstein and Jeanne Lyons, and my percussionist Mariama Obrien, as well as my incredible lead-guitarist, Mickey Angel, who frequently joins us for shows and my talented bassist, Alison Paige, who occasionally joins us for shows.
Our new style is deeply routed in, and reflective of, the choral background of my two co-singers and myself, the African rhythmic emphasis of Mariama's Liberian upbringing, as well as my own roots in the Quaker folk-spiritual tradition and my nine year obsession with guitar, including a basic study of blues/jazz technique.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my extreme gratitude for all of the support we have received from friends and fans- it means more then I can ever tell you!
On a separate note, I am a senior at Temple University, double majoring in Communications and History, and am currently preparing to apply to graduate school. Between school, music, and the rest of life, I am extremely busy and do not log onto myspace very frequently. PLEASE ALLOW AT LEAST A WEEK FOR A RESPONSE. TO ENSURE A MORE TIMELY CORRESPONDENCE PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY AT victoriaspaeth@yahoo.com.

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4

Hey Viki -- thanks for trying last night. We had a great time, and I know you would have enjoyed our Open Mic if you could have been there. Some of my old friends showed up, like Kevin Kelly who used to play with Kenn Kweder. He's back in town for a month or so before he moves to Nashville. And a bunch of our Open Mic friends were at Downey's last night also, like George O'Brien, Aaron Brown, and DA 1.
I hope I'll see you soon!

PS. did you get a chance to see the Video that Kuf made to promote our Wednesday night Open Mics at Blue Bananas Cafe? I think I sent it to you, but if not, please take a look at my Blog. I'd love to hear what you think of it. As Kuf would say, "Philly Love"
