So, if you are in Berlin, please drop by the NEUOTITIAN gallery and have a look. Location: Mitte, Haus Schwartzenberg, Rosenthalerstr. 39. Hours: Mon-Sat 12 - 20 H and Sunday 14-19 H)
Influences
The 19th century, old Europe, Nature.
And then there is my family background.
We are all composite portraits of our families.
(Is this not more frightening than the idea behind The Portrait of Dorian Gray?)
Introduction: I tell stories - in words, sound and music, print, video, pictures, theatre, over coffee... and move seasonally between the Rocky Mountains (Banff, Alberta), Berlin and Vancouver.
Recording projects are usually in collaboration with Gudrun Gut (Berlin).
We have released three albums together - Miasma, Miasma2, Miasma3.
Gudrun and I have two new releases: THE GIRL SUITE EP (4-trk download release), and GIRLS & CITIES (cd and download) that includes tracks with Berlin friends, Beate Bartel (HANOI) and Alexander Hacke and Danielle de Picciotto (STUFF).
"My Friend Sherry" (here on my player) is about how it was when abortion was illegal. In the US there's a scary campaign to criminalize abortion again. This seriously annoys me because my best friend when I was 15, died of an illegal abortion. We've made a relatively palatable track on this nasty topic. It's a wake-up call.
All tracks are on itunes and other download sites and cds are available at http://www.m-enterprise.de/shop/
Video: 'Alberta Ride of the Valkyrie' (4:16).
David Hauka (Vancouver) and I made this Bravo!Fact short with nine fabulous Alberta girls and their horses. Shot at Roxbury Showjumping Stables near Okatoks, Alberta, the music is Gudrun's re-mix of Wagner and my lyrics about girls and horses. Pics from the shoot in my slide show here. The track is titled 'Valkyrie' on THE GIRL SUITE EP.
Berlin Arts Reviews blog 'My Berlin'. (nothing new there).
Wish you the most happiest New Year!Thank you for your rich creations: I loved very much Cities and the Girls, especially the song dedicated to your irish aunts(actually I love every song but this one is deepest to me).
