ENDORSEMENTS

When I heard Johnny Price and The Rhythm Riders belt out songs like “Folsom Prison Blues”, “Big River”, and “Daddy Sang Bass” I knew that there was no question, this is the real thing, not an imitation. Johnny Price doesn’t even have to try, he just is Johnny Cash. After hearing The Rhythm Riders I called Johnny Price and said to him: “John Boy let’s go make history together. On March 7th & 8th 2008 I had the honor of playing with The Rhythm Riders and I can honestly say that after playing with Johnny Cash for 37 years I never played a better show or had more fun than I did with The Rhythm Riders. They sounded great and the show could not have been better. This is a world class Las Vegas, Branson style show. I am proud to say I have played with The Rhythm Riders and look forward to making history together. Johnny’s wife, Dee Price is a world class singer herself, reminding me of Patsy Cline and Anita Carter, yet with a distinctive sound that is clearly her own. Her Patsy Cline tribute “San Antonio Rose” is second to none.

--W.S (Fluke) Holland, Johnny Cash’s drummer for 40 years and original member of The Tennessee Three

I went to the March 7th 2008 concert to see my old friend W.S. Holland perform with The Rhythm Riders and do their Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline tributes and I was blown away. I had no idea The Rhythm Riders were so good. It was a world class show bar none. When you hear Johnny Price and The Rhythm Riders perform those familiar ballads of Johnny Cash, it’s undeniable that it’s the closest to the real Johnny Cash you ‘re going to hear. Close your eyes and you’ll swear you’re listening to Cash. I’ve had the pleasure of working with John and his wife, Dee Price, who has one of the best voices in female country music. When you are listening to her Patsy Cline tribute “San Antonio Rose” you can close your eyes and believe you’re listening to the real Patsy Cline.

--Biff Adams, drummer for Merle Haggard for 37 years

I heard The Rhythm Riders do their Johnny Cash Tribute “Back in Black,” and I can honestly say these guys are as good as anyone I have heard. They look and sound great. They have created a great Johnny Cash tribute band and they really capture the original Johnny Cash/ Luther Perkins sound. Johnny Price does an amazing Johnny Cash. They really know their craft. They are obviously pros.

--Noel Dean, former drummer for Tanya Tucker, Barbara Mandrel & Doug Kershaw

The Rhythm Riders have created a fantastic Johnny Cash Tribute, “Back in Black,” and they are unbelievable. I thought I was listening to the real Johnny Cash. What a tremendous show. If you are a Johnny Cash fan, this is a must-see show. I was awestruck.

--Dr. Doug Yarris, member of the Solano County Film Commission. Coordinator/Director for the release of the Warner Bros. movie: “The Sphere”

The Rhythm Riders deliver some of the greatest Country Christian songs ever written—led by a great front man Johnny Price, accompanied by the world-class voice of his wife, Dee Price, and backed by a superb band!

--Greg Denham, Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel, Auburn, California

JOHNNY PRICE: VOCALIST Johnny Price's uncanny vocal and physical resemblance to Johnny Cash, has marveled audiences from California to New York to Ireland. Johnny captures Johnny Cash's ability to deliver a story and a melody so well, that his audiences feel as though they have had a walk with the Man In Black himself. Johnny's versatility also allows him to give convincing performances when singing the classic country favorites of George Jones, Ray Price and Faron Young. In 2005 Johnny entered the International Vocalist competition hosted in Las Vegas Nevada. Out of 5000 contestants performing in all genres, Johnny displayed his western roots and vocal ability placing 18th, proving this country boy can sing.

DEE PRICE: VOCALIST, GUITARIST Dee has sung and performed the music of Patsy Cline, June Carter and other giants of the country music world throughout California, New York and Ireland. For more than 15 years, Dee has regaled audiences with her solid vocals and easy demeanor. For 5 years Dee was accompanied by guitarist, Gil Reigers of the Johnny Mathis band. She has also performed with Norm Hamlet and Biff Adams of Merle Haggard's band and Truett Cunningham of Bob Wells Texas Playboys. Not to be outdone, Johnny's wife, Dee, also entered the International Vocalist competition, earning a 9th place finish in a field of 5000 contestants and 258 finalists. Together, they have researched the archives of American Roots music and assembled a band capable of recreating the sights and sounds of the hey day of Country Western and Americana Roots music. The world of June Carter, Johnny Cash, and Patsy Cline, three singers who embraced their culture and blended Western, Swing, Rock, Polka and Mexican Dance music and brought a new sound to the world, influencing generations of musicians, and fans.

LARRY TRACY: PEDAL STEEL, GUITARIST, DOBRO Larry was born and raised in South San Francisco and played with many regional bands, including Dee Lannon & the Rhythm Rustlers, Kerry Hansen, Powder River, and pre-Everclear Art Alexakis. Larry has performed at major clubs in California such as Slim's, The Catalyst, and The Saddle Rack. Larry lived in Austin TX for 14 years, where he played with Eric Hisaw, Blue Diamond Shine, Two Hoots & a Holler, Rick Trevino, Eric Blakely, Mike Rosenthal & many others playing in; The Continental Club, Stubbs, and Liberty Lunch. In Austin, he was able to play as Jimmy Day one of the great innovators of this indigenous American instrument, in The Austin based Patsy Cline review. Now back in California he is happy to be playing in the Johnny Cash tribute band, Back in Black and the Patsy Cline tribute band, San Antonio Rose.

DAVID JOHNSTON: GUITARIST, VOCALIST Dave is a native of California and started playing guitar and singing at a very young age. By the time he was 11 years old, he had discovered Johnny Cash and the incomparable driving guitar of Luther Perkins. He also realized he was a natural at singing harmony. Dave has played in venues from the Holiday Inn circuit, to dinner and coffee houses, to the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California. Dave's impressive style has been developed with countless hours of practice and performance and influenced by guitar greats such as BB King, Eric Clapton and Luther Perkins. His vocal and harmonic influences have come from The Jordanaires, Crosby Still Nash and Young, and Alan Jackson. Dave's mastery of the Luther Perkins' hard driving train style playing adds an air of authenticity to the Johnny Cash tribute convincing the audiences that they are experiencing a touch of the Man In Black himself.

E. G. SMITH: DRUMMER, VOCALIST E.G. was born into a musical family. His father played guitar, and both of his grandfathers played music as well. He took to the drums at an early age, playing in stage bands and orchestras throughout school. Born and raised in San Francisco, he was exposed to a very eclectic range of musical styles, drawing on each one to develop his own. E.G. has played throughout the Bay Area, opening up for the Tubes, Roy Buchannan, The Chambers Brothers, and Elvin Bishop. More recently he has performed at Sacramento's Arco Arena for the "Straight Up Summer Jam" series. With well over 30 years playing experience, he understands the critical importance of playing what's right for the song, always striving to please the listener with solid timekeeping and tasteful chops. Until recently, he was active in the local blues scene, playing with Sleeper and Bone Jelli. Currently, as a member of The Rhythm Riders, he has come full circle, playing the type of music he grew up playing with his father.

BRETT BOYLE: BASS GUITAR The newest member of The Rhythm Riders, Brett brings a natural musicality and effortless swing to the group's sound and to this classic American music. After years of playing the Blues circuit throughout the Sierra foothills, Brett has re-joined former band mates Dave Johnston and E.G. Smith to create a rock-solid core from which the Rhythm Riders take flight. His musical influences come from all genres of music, but none as prominent as Rock, Jazz and Blues - a perfect fit for The Rhythm Riders and their music. Brett views the work of Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline as a timeless, American art form. He feels privileged to be a member of The Rhythm Riders and is honored to share this important music with a whole new generation.
