Covered some of these already .. reading, cats, dogs, pet therapy work, cat and dog rescue, softball, geeky type computer stuff, and many other things. When I get bored, I like to try new things - for example, one of my friends has been learning Mandarin, so I bugged him to teach me a bit. I like to keep active, and keep my mind active too!Music
Lots of 80s stuff like Duran Duran, and the other pop stuff from then. I also like a lot of 60s stuff, such as the Monkees, Simon and Garfunkel, and folk music from early 60s/late 50s like Kingston Trio and the Limelighters. I also like Chicago (great band! seen them many times in concert), Styx, Weird Al Yankovic, some music from the 90s like Third Eye Blind and early NIN, and some modern stuff like Nickleback. I also listen to a lot of Christian rock too: Casting Crowns and MercyMe, (those two are my top favorites right now!!!), POD, Jeremy Camp, Day of Fire, Pillar, Skillet, Chris Tomlin and others. Kind of a varied taste.... Nothing from groups on here yet though, give me suggestions!Movies
I watch movies on occasion but I'm not that much of a movie buff. I loved the Lord of the Rings movies, I have seen the Harry Potter films, of course all the Star Wars movies, the recent Chronicles of Narnia movie, and others. I love some of the really old films like Harvey, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Bringing Up Baby. Not much lately has thrilled me, but I may be going through a more cynical time in my life (too many movies have the SAME plot!! sheesh!!).Television
Hmmm television. All I really watch nowadays is the Simpsons and Family Guy, and not with any real regularity. I only rarely turn the tv on! I do like Law and Order though, when I remember to watch it, and House is somewhat funny and interesting. I used to watch all kinds of tv - Doctor Who!!! Monty Python!! Twilight Zone (the originals). And who can forget Soap! I just am not much of a tv watcher nowadays, but there are still good shows from the past that I remember and enjoy....Books
Let me just list authors instead! Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Peter Straub, Janet Evanovich, Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, David Eddings, Anne Rice (some), Kim Harrison, Maggie Furey, Sharon Green, Melanie Rawn, Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Tad Williams, John Myers, Melanie Rawn, Rachel Caine, and of course many more. I read very fast, and I re-read books, so I keep busy!Heroes
Heroes?? Hmmm I had a lot of respect for my father because he was a cop .... but he could also be very dismissive and unpredictable so I don't really think of him as much of a hero. I dont' know if I had any real heroes growing up, and I don't think I really have any now. Sort of sad? I do have a great deal of respect for anyone who stands up for their beliefs even if popular opinion is against them....

About me:
Former Chicagoan, moved to San Jose, CA in 2000. I became a Christian in 2002, and am a much happier person than I was when I was growing up! I don't smoke, I still drink occasionally in social situations. I read like a fiend, everything from Christian fiction to sci-fi/fantasy (lots!) to horror to, well, anything. And of course the Bible too. I'm an animal lover and currently volunteer with a no-kill cat shelter, caring for the cats and doing some outreach projects, and also working on their website. My roommate and I also take two of the cats (one who is still in training) to visit the elderly as 'therapy cats' with Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services (www.furryfriends.org). Not married. I also sing in my church, since I love to sing. No, I'm probably not very good! So? :) Although the choir I sang in is on hold right now, so we'll see what I do next. Maybe I'll join drama for the church. I do like to be dramatic! I work for a software company, I'm the tech support manager, so I'm a bit of a geek. However, I also like to hike on occasion, play softball sometimes, and enjoy physical sports and keeping busy. And I'm a HUGE Cubs fan!!!!! I'd be willing to talk to people just for fun, and to find people with similar interests!Who I'd like to meet:
anyone, for chatting .. about animals, pet therapy work, reading, whatever. Fellow Christians would be a major plus, as I don't have very many Christian friends here in person, but I'll happily talk to any NICE people. No games, obscene suggestions, etc., please!! I'm not an internet newbie by any standards (using irc/the web/telnet/gopher since 1995).Details
