About me: My rill name is Myr'n Sydney Kopelman an' up till last yir I was a broadcaster fer the Stillers ah Pittsbargh. I was born ner, in Pittsbargh. Mmm ha. I gradiated from Taylor Alderdice High School and Pitt dahn in Oaklind. Yoi. I was originally a journalist before becoming a broadcaster. My first job was in Erie with the Daley Times. Back 'en it was tough. In 'em Erie bars 'ey gave ya free pickles. Everyone got a free pickle regardless of whetherya drank er nawt. I drank Manhattans back in nem days. So I was in a bar, I think it was 'eh State Street Tavern, that's where all the athletes hung aht. An' I was eatin my free pickle an' drinkin' my Manhattin an' tryin' ta ask 'is track runner for Gannon U. a question fer an ar-tee-cle I was writin. So he sez "I'll answer yer questin, little fella" I mean nis guy was 6 foot 5 in his stockin' feet, and he drank vodka like a whale, I tell ya. So he sez "I'll answer yer questin' nere, but first you have ta hit me as hardiz you can in the mush." I said, "I ain't gonna hitya, that's not pre-fessional". And he sez, "Nen nere's no interview." So I had another drink, thought abaht it, and walks up to him and sez to him I sez, "Alright, I want my inteview." And he sez "Okay little fella, but let me finish my pickle first." So he finishes his pickle and I get inta by best Billy Conn pose, an' I take a swing, and I could barely reach the guy, an' he pulls back, I miss and go windin' arahnd and end up hittin' the pickle jar an' knockin' it over and 12 free pickles go flyin'. The bartender sez ta me he sez, "Now you gotta pay fer dat cope!" I sez, "Dere free - how abaht I just come in here 12 more times and Ow'll pass on nem pickles!" Yoi!
Later I freelanced and wrote for Sports Illyastrated.
In the late 60s, back when kids were smakin' funny cigarettes and growin' nere hair long, I was being heard onna radio in Pittsbargh. The boss over at the Stillers heard me an nen hard me. As the Steelers won the Super Bowl four times, I gained a measure of fame. The Terrible Towel became a rallying tool for the black and gold, unlike Ball-tee-more and nere ineffective white warshrags.

Twas the night before the Super Bowl, when along the gulf shore, Steelers fans were praying for “just one more;” The players were nestled all snug in the sack, With visions of the first NFL Six-Pack; Coach Tomlin was young, but wise for his years, So I drifted off to sleep without any fears; When at the stadium there arose some strange chatter, The Cardinals feared, what was the matter; We heard “Okel Dokel”, we heard “Double Yoi,” We jumped from our beds, our hearts jumped for joy; He stood at the fifty with a grin ear to ear, Steelers fans everywhere started to cheer; Then in an instant to our surprise, This little old man had tears in his eyes; He went to the booth and there took his chair, While Terrible Towels waved in the air; Then over the airwaves came his shrill voice, The Steelers Nation began to rejoice; He said, “I am back, but you know I can’t stay, I just had to see my Steelers play; From my home up above, I have a great view, But I wanted to celebrate here with you; So bring on the Birds, we’ll send them a flyin’, On the way back to Phoenix , they will be cryin’; Ben, Hines, Troy , Jeff and all of the rest, No matter the outcome, to me you’re the best;” The airwaves went silent, the stadium still, Was this just a dream, it seemed so real; In our team we have faith, in our team we have hope, But the game’s not the same without Myron Cope; Written by: A.K.
