   About My Small Adventure
What do you get if you put Radiohead, Sigur Ros, The Smashing Pumpkins, Damien Rice, Godspeed You! Black Emperor together???

Some really good music which is about a million times better than mine.

But I thought I'd give it a shot anyway...

Hype my balls, the only reason he's president is because he's a good speaker. You should have heard his speech last night! Oh I would have thrown my life away to kidnap him and throw him in a pen of hungry lions, and starving birds to watch him get pulled apart limb by limb. And have his wife watch! I loath that man. Well, if thats what you really wanna do, ie show your talents. Put it out there. If you can really play live, spread the word try get some gigs. Put your tracks on a cd, do a fancy cover (and myspace, facebook whatever else). You are really good, abit Sigur Ros, but real good. Alison Curtis did play you after all. But saying that it's who you know at the end of it all...I feel.

Personnally I just like recording a song weather if anyone likes it or not...or if they actually hear it at all.

P.S.

ALL music is free if its online. No matter where it is.

Its true about getting an underground following, and if you want to make it 'big' you should play live. But i'd rather not, play live that is, I just want to write and record. Not a big fan of itunes or iPod. Is iTunes any use for new artists?

Well thats it, as you said. If one has the urge to create it will, no matter what form it takes. Expression is the only form of art. And thats what everything should be.

Don't get me wrong I know what scumbags like, most of which I don't like but I do like SOME good 'dance/indie nu-rave' (whatever new genre that has been created to market it) like; some Hot Chip, Daft Punk and Ratatat. If you havent herd of Ratatat, listen to Wildcat, a song by them, album has the same name. Real good. Kinda instru rock/dance.

I know what you mean by getting a buzz from people liking your songs. Wheather they like your songs or not you should still just record for YOU. I want to DJ too, its fun no doubt about that, BUT I fear IF I do start getting into it I'll get lazy and won't record my own songs. You know. Remixing is easy, writing the lyrics/song/melody is the hard part.

Yeah I love the latest Sigur Ros album, BUT I will never remember or be able to pronouce the titles! The song called Festival, its on thier myspace but dont know if it is the full version, around the 5th min into it...there is silence...then the bass comes in with a slight distortion. Love it...its like two beautiful songs copyed & pasted together!

I know what you mean but aslong as you can play an instrument it doesnt matter too much if you listen to ALOT of music, at a time. Just throw afew notes together and create something.

I was thinking of mixing to and looking into DJing, which would be cool ie spread the music I love BUT at the end of the day I feel its taking the easy way out. I'd rather spend time doing something of my own. You know. Creating music. Not remixing it.

Being meaning to get my hands on some recording software...like pro tools. But I dont have the patience to learn how to use the software, well sometimes, cos im writting some things and taking pix etc. I dont like using midi really, I have a keyboard but selling it cos it has shit sustain. Its a good keyboard too. But my sis is a high grad pianist and just got a grand piano. So when I have time im gonna try record on that, using an external mic. Prob sound shit though.

Weird you said that cos I'm bord playing the guitar, well not actually bord, but want to move onto playing something that excites me a little more. I want to put more piano into the mix.

Joy Division are one of my faves. Only had two albums but hit the spot, I'm a sucker for the bass, thiers was brill. Simple but brill. I love their sound...has been stolen so many times by the likes of Interpol, Editors, White Lies etc. but i love it!

What you listening to recently?

Havent used any of them, but Reason looks pretty good. I use Cakewalk, pretty good shit. Might look into getting Reason...see if I can get it for free. Recommend any other good software to get? Might be able to send it If I can get them. You want Logic, you use a Mac then yeah? Not really into dance etc but your new version of Cuinas is pretty good. Not as good as the original though :p

On another note. Ever listen to Joy Division?
