About me:

We support Democratic candidates for office everywhere in America to:
  • increase participation in our government by supporting public and higher education
  • create a more just and equitable society through a fair tax code based on ability to pay
  • protect America's promises to our seniors and veterans by supporting veterans' benefits, Social Security and Medicare
  • fulfill the ideals of basic human rights and equal protection under the law set forth by our country's founders
  • promote a foreign policy that reflects these values

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone who shares our vision for America -- in the words of President Clinton, "to make the economy work again for middle-class Americans, to restore fiscal responsibility, to save Social Security, to make health care more affordable, college more available, to free us from dependence on foreign oil and create new jobs with clean energy and a cleaner environment, to rally the world to our side in the war against terror and to make a world with more friends and less terror."

Thanks for supporting our Troops! I appreciate it and I know our Troops appreciate it. Please keep those affected by the tragedy in Fort Hood, TX in your thoughts and prayers.

If you would like to help us thank those still serving overseas and help those coming home wounded, please stop by the profile, read the latest blog and do what you can.

Thanks again and have a great weekend.

Talking piece is companion to Marks newest blog
    Body: Mark Talks
Check out Marks page with his talking piece on the music player .

    Date: Nov 13, 2009 6:53 PM
Subject: The current talking piece is companion to the newest blog.

Body: The current talking piece is intended as an introduction to the current blog. Taken together, they should help the listener/reader to better understand what Obama means by change, and to make the case for why it is in our best interest to support him in his efforts. The current Democratic majority is a fragile one indeed. When the Democratic president has 39 elected Democrats actively vote against their party/presidents wishes, you know that Obama is in no position to ram his agenda through Congress as Bush had been able to. Taken together, the talking piece/blog makes the case for us liberals to steadfastly stand by our man, or face another wing-nut Republican administration in the wake of a failed Obama presidency.

    Happy listening/reading,

    Mark

A friend had an idea that I thought might be very effective.  We live in SC, a state where it does no good to write to our Congressmen (in our experience, they ignore anything from Democrats--they do not represent us since we did not vote for them). But if all of the people who live in states like this were to write to Harry Reid, and tell him that if he does the right thing and puts the Public Option into the Health Care Reform Bill, we will contribute $50 (or $25 or whatever we can afford) to his campaign.....and if he doesn't, we will contribute to his competitor's campaign (the point being, if he's going to act like a Republican what's the difference?).  There must be close to a million Progressive Democrats in Red States with no one to write to and support on the Public Option, Harry Reid will listen to 50 or even 25 million dollars.  What do you think? Please pass this on if you like the idea :)  Also we want to get rid of the anti-trust exemption on insurance companies!

HOW ARE YOU,i am just stopping by to see how you been doing.i hope every
thing is alright with you and all the peace lover around the world. like once said, life with out safety is nothing.that is
exactly what's happening in Sudan to day.No body is safe or feeling
safe all over Sudan, from the south to the north, from the east to the
west.so i called all of you who believe in peace & Justice,to stand
up for what is right, and be truthful to you self and to the Sudanese
people, let the new Sudan nation be born now, rather then tomorrow, give
the people of Sudan a choice to either join the new Sudan,or remain
with the old Sudan two country living side by side,so we can finally
have a true ever lasting peace in this part of the world,i am not
afraid to say what is right nor should you, because we have nothing to
fear but fear, it's self.may god bless you,may god bless the new
    Sudan.  THANKS

Cuddly kitten, stoned & burned, dies in 'atrocious act of cruelty'

    Philadelphia Daily News

Even after a 6-week-old kitten was pelted with stones and set on fire in a Chester alley Saturday afternoon, it didn't lash out. The brown tabby greeted Dave Schlott, a Delaware County animal control officer, by climbing up his shirt and snuggling against his neck.
"It was cuddling, so I thought I'd name it Cuddles," Schlott said. "It was a really, really good-natured kitten."
