Since I have lately been diving into the world of jazz, there are definitely a few artists that I have found myself listening to more than others. My absolute favorite is Jane Monheit, with Tierney Sutton as a close second. I listen to Ella Fitzgerald quite a lot as well. I have probably only heard less than 1% of what is out there, so I am sure there will be more to come. Classically speaking, I don't have too many. I never even listened to it until I started college. I did meet Flicka (frederica Von Stadt) and absolutely loved her, so I guess she would be on the top of my list. My voice teacher always told me I was a Puccini singer, so let's throw him on there as well.
Unfortunately, my bio has been a little blank lately, as I have put aside my desire for a vocal career and instead have entered into the wonderful world of internet advertising. I started singing show tunes and disney songs when I was about 9 years old. My sister and I can still sing the whole sound track to Lion King, and we do everytime we get in a car together. I didn't start singing classical until I got into college, but discovered I was actually pretty good at it. I love singing opera, although my attention span doesn't allow me to attend very many of them. Lately however I have been working mainly on jazz and other standards, with the lofty dream of one day performing in a restaurant/lounge. The songs on this profile were recorded with my friend Derrick Lowe, who also did all the mixing. I'm looking for more musicians to collaborate with, so if you know of anyone, hit me up.
I see that you have'nt been on here in several months and I can't remember your e mail address, but if you happen to get this-contact me! ...wondering if you are still singing...never forgot about potentially playing with you. Love your voice Tarla! Thanks, jase
Okay, I was totally hooked in by the ABCs only to be surprised by a fantastic rendition of Case of You. I didn't know that was on here and I love that song! Nicely done, girlfriend.
Wow, Tarla. Your voice sounds amazing! Funny to think how many great voices came out of that Oliver cast. Between, you, Sara, Gabe, Zach, and me, we'd put together a pretty good show if we all got together again. Check out my music myspace if you get a chance. You can hear me do some Schubert :)
