About me: As an award winning, multi-platform producer, on-air host and voice-over talent, MYSS MOXIE is used to being where the action is and her resourcefulness has been an asset to her career from day one. Years ago, while still an intern at “Dateline NBC,” MYSS MOXIE often ventured to Times Square during her free time. Fascinated by the energy of the area, she hopped on a line she saw forming outside of MTV’s headquarters, knowing nothing other than it would get her into the building. She would soon learn that the line was for the hip hop show “DFX” and immediately seized a newfound opportunity. Like a “Trojan Horse” in Nikes, the amiable and determined MYSS MOXIE wasted no time in meeting the coordinating producer of MTV’s News Department while on the set of the show. From that initial encounter, a relationship ensued, culminating with an offer for full time work in June of 2001.
Hard working and motivated, she could not have started her assignment at a more challenging time. Cutting her teeth on a range of events which included pop singer Aaliyah’s death in August and the tragedy of 9/11 that September, MYSS MOXIE learned to balance both the world of entertainment and hard hitting breaking news.
As part of the MTV family, MYSS MOXIE’s witnessed the start of many careers, but takes particular pride in the personal and integral role she played early on in the career of Kanye West. Though receiving accolades for his work on Jay-Z’s 2001 album, Blueprint, West’s attempts to transition from producer to artist were met with great skepticism. Having befriended the now international star during her initial year at MTV, she rallied on his behalf and convinced her peers and superiors of his potential. Within a year, West would be introduced to the masses via “You Hear It First,” a popular MTV News program known for breaking new artists. Her actions, a testament to her steadfastness, further illustrated that she had an ear and eye for true talent.
In a difficult career decision, MYSS MOXIE moved to Los Angeles in 2004, and quickly established herself as one of the most sought after field producers on either coast, working with Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, and Terrance Howard to name a few.
Throughout the years MYSS MOXIE has continued to contribute to MTV’s groundbreaking programming, producing content for upbeat fare such as “TRL,” the “MTV Video Music Awards” and the “MTV Movie Awards” to thought provoking pieces like “Our New Reality” (special on 9/11),“Nightmare in Neverland” (Michael Jackson trial special) and the worldwide concert to combat poverty, “Live 8.” An avid music fan and student of the industry she frequently pitches ideas from a fresh and unique perspective.
Playfully dubbed “Young Winfrey” or “Oprah 2.0” for her entrepreneurial spirit, MYSS MOXIE is currently on the brink of fully launching her on-air hosting career. Long applauded for her on-camera presence, she is now poised to bring her energy from behind the scenes to in front of the camera. Queens, New York born and Texas reared, the current Los Angeles resident has the perfect balance of “New York hustle, Southern charm and Hollywood fabulousness” to make a major dent in the industry.
