How did I become a mystery author? After stints as a manual laborer, dishwasher, bartender, restaurant manager, commercial photographer, magazine editor and public relations executive, I decided life should imitate art. I'm now a freelance writer and marketing communications consultant specializing in food and beverage (because he loves to eat). I'm also a certified food safety instructor. I grew up on a farm in northern Illinois and lived in Chicago for 20 years. I live with the love of my life and three of our four children outside Seattle. I'm a member of Mystery Writers of America and the Authors Guild. I've published five novels in the Emerson Ward series (An Option On Death, Little Use For Death, Death Came Dressed In White, A Forever Death, and Death Is No Bargain).
My stand-alone novel, Island Life, the story of an ordinary suburban man's race against time to find out why his wife has disappeared before he loses his children, his freedom and possibly his life, is out now. The sixth Emerson Ward mystery, Death On A Budget, will be published soon. And I'm now hard at work on a brand new mystery series set in Seattle. Anyway, have a better one than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow.
