The days just slide away but we still manage to eat brunch together on most Sundays and also get together and do what we do at the studio. Ryan built the studio, Jeff manages the brunch and rock venue, and Nick is caffeinating the public when he's not booking shows at various diy style places. We all like the idea of the grand scavenger hunt that tour is, and meeting new people. We're just about to release a new record and then make another one . . . what's that saying about pushing a rock up a hill . . .
I just got my hands on their latest release, Gravity, which is a two song single (with Strange Town on the flip side). Excellent tracks and if this is a taste of what’s to come from their next CD (that’s what I’m told), it should be a good one. Gravity reminds me of early Talking Heads when the Heads still had a hard edge (no slight to their later work). Strange Town actually reminds me of the Velvet Underground, but there is some Sonic Youth overtones in there as well.

As Mystery of Two continues to garner accolades from the indie media, the trio is quickly becoming the newest buzz band emerging from the fertile Ohio underground. Harnessing the quirky urgency of early Talking Heads filtered through contemporaries like Tapes n' Tapes and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, the band douses jangle in waves of dissonance that are more akin to Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. The result is an incredibly infectious brand of experimental pop. - Kyle Melton Dayton City Paper:
Not quite post-punk, not quite New Wave, this Cleveland trio nonetheless shares traits with both (angular guitar parts, occasional synth bleeps), but adds other components – Sonic Youth noise and Feelies guitar drive – to come up with something less derivative. Occasionally the embers ignite into conflagration, which is when the band rises above the rabble. - John Schacht Charlotte’s Creative Loafing
Hey, I'm doing an SNL-live sketch show at Bogey's Comedy Club in August and I'm looking for a band to play a few songs at intermission. Don't know if you guys would be interested or what we could work out as far as rates, but hit me up if you might have some interest!
I think you should carry around a parasol or an umbrella in real life, just for fun. Bring it back. Next you can make monocles that come with album download codes.
