Music is my drug of choice!

I also dig a little science, philosophy, ghosts/hauntings, modern vampirism, animal behavior, pre-christian history, painting, genealogy, and many other things.....

    Tulsa's Kings of Sleaze!
An absolutely FANTASTIC original local (to the Tulsa area) band, these young men are incredible musicians! If you have a chance to see them play, DO NOT MISS IT!!

Gotta love Dirty Penny! Adding their own twist and style, they're not only bringing back the music of glam metal, but the attitude, image and lifestyle as well. What's not to love? Are you ready to take it sleezy?

The World's Greatest Sleazy Flamenco (yes, FLAMENCO!) Rockers, the music they make is GUARANTEED to make your head bang or your butt wiggle - or both! And don't be surprised if your top flies off!
    Gypsy%20PistolerosQuantcast

Now, get ready for some sleaze Italian style! These guys also have their own unique twist on the genre... very awesome!

A bit heavier, and a bit darker, this band has a melodic metal sound you've got to hear to believe! Some of the most beautiful music you'll ever throw horns and bang your head with!

A year and a half ago (Nov 2007 - check my blogs!), based on ONE live performance, I predicted these boys would be hugely famous one day. Now, 18 months later, they have a recording contract, have released a full-length album, and are getting airplay on mTV2! So, next time I make that prediction, BELIEVE IT!

    Other GREAT music:

Oh! Did you want to know what "recognizable" bands I like? WAY too damned many to list!!! But here's a sampling to give you an idea of my tastes:

I love every single song Seether has ever recorded!

I also like: Tool, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne (with or without Black Sabbath), Megadeth, Godsmack, Alice in Chains, Motley Crue, Poison, Twisted Sister, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Janis Joplin, K's Choice, Loreena McKennit, Enya, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Statler Brothers, and many MANY others. In sum, I JUST LOVE MUSIC!!!
  • Movies

Jesus Christ Superstar, Dead Poet's Society, Dune, Hair, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Braveheart, The Dark Crystal, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Natural Born Killers, The Lord of the Rings trilogy (circa 2000-2002), Grease, John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, Gothika, The Fifth Element, Interview With The Vampire, and anything else that makes me want to sing along, makes me think, or is visually appealing. If it has ghosts, vampires, swords, or dragons, I HAVE TO SEE IT!
  • Television

I don't watch much TV, but when I do, it's usually... SciFi Channel, History Channel, National Geographic Channel, and Discovery Channel. There are also some pretty awesome HBO series... Rome (was FANTASTIC - wish they'd make more, they still have several emperors to cover!), Real Time w/ Bill Maher, True Blood, and Big Love (a must-see for any recovering Mormon!) Oh! Mustn't forget Farscape! I can't remember the last time I watched local networks, but it's been years. I also like any show on the Food Network that involves Alton Brown! He's so fun to watch!
  • Books

Illusions by Richard Bach (EVERYONE should read this book at least once!), The Hobbit and The LOTR trilogy by JRR Tolkien, The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan, The Vampire Chronicles and The Mayfair Witches trilogy by Anne Rice, The Dream Game by Dr. Ann Faraday, The Silva Mind Control Method by Jose Silva
  • Heroes

My kids (they are AMAZING!!!), Buddha, Jesus of Nazareth, Aleister Crowley, Mahatma Ghandi, Marquis de Sade, and Maynard James Keenan

    Don't Shop! Adopt!

I also have a great admiration and deep respect for anyone who can work directly with victims of animal cruelty year in and year out without losing hope, without losing their compassion, and without losing themselves.

Please Spay or Neuter your pets!!!

I also gotta add my BSS Sister, Jess, who has rescued me from more scary people than anyone else I know!! Love ya girl!

Other stuff about me...

Unless I am in a natural (outdoor) setting, whatever else I may be doing (with the possible exception of watching television), I am nearly always listening to music. Sometimes I will even give myself completely to a song and play just that one song over and over nonstop. (Mostly Seether, K's Choice, Tool, Led Zeppelin, AIC, and Godsmack, though I've done this with possibly hundreds of songs over the years.) It amazes those around me that I never tire of these songs. It amazes me that they can claim to love a song, but can't listen to it repeatedly. (Doesn't that mean they only like the song?) If math is the language of the universe (and maybe even if it isn't), music is the language of the soul.

I enjoy some of just about every type of music (depending on my mood), and all of no type, but mostly I just like my music to be "full-bodied and meaningful," although fast and fun is great too! I gravitate mostly to rock: hard and heavy. My favorite instruments to listen to are vocals, electric guitar, and the violin - in that order. In sum, I like what my ears like and don't like what they don't. "Bitch-ho pop a cap in yo' ass" rap SUCKS!!

Aside from music...

"Eccentric" is probably the best way to describe my personality. I love to learn about the history of our species, our planet, and our universe; though I must constantly remind the TV, books, and internet that nearly everything they tell me is THEORY and not fact. I enjoy learning about religions and cultures (past and present), and how/why things work. (Not that I remember very much of what I learn, but I enjoy it all the same.) When it comes to things I care about, I tend to be quite opinionated (Spay and neuter your pets, dammit!), but I find I tend to differ from many people in what I consider important.

I'm not very social because I find most people annoying, so if you find yourself on the short list of people with whom I enjoy spending time, be impressed with you. I am!

My Favorite Activities:

  • CONCERTS!
  • camping (primitive - RV'ers are cheaters!)
  • Web Research (wikipedia rocks!) I've been known to set out to find a definition and 12 hours later I can't tell you what that word was, but I can tell you interesting things currently believed about ancient egyptian culture.
  • Sitting in relative silence mesmerized by moonlight dancing on the largest body of water I can find, which is currently Keystone lake.
  • Sitting in relative silence mesmerized by flames dancing in a fire pit.
  • Painting - I paint with acrylics on canvas board (mainly because I'm poor and they're relatively cheap).

I also happen to have Fibromyalgia (aka FM or FMS) which may be at least partially responsible for my occasional bouts of crankiness.

And I freakin' LOVE this song: YES!!! Move over Wierd Al... there's a new kid in town!..

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone that wants me to vote for them.

I'd also like to meet Boadicea and Cleopatra because history remembers them as strong women, and I think that's pretty cool. It'd also be awesome to meet Julius Caesar, Jesus of Nazareth (pre-crucifixion), Buddha, Mahatma Ghandi, John Lennon, Marquis de Sade, Aleister Crowley, Mark Twain, and Maynard Keenan. I dig people who think outside the box. Of course, for a few of these people, I'd want safety assurances in case I pissed 'em off. :)
