My generation. There are endless possibilities for us and for our future. I see so much promise and potential in so many eyes and it motivates me! My high school music teacher. He was a classical guitarist he played and taught for a living. He is the father of a famous musician, He always pushed me to explore my talents in music, before I ever realized I even had talent!
What music did you listen to when growing up?
Everything! I loved R&B, pop, hip hop, and rock, just because it was always on the radio. And My mother would always blast artist like Stevie, Chaka, Donny, and Prince in the house. But then, because of my classical training, I really learned to love Classical and all kinds of Jazz music. Eventually my taste broadened.
How old were you when you knew you wanted to work in music?
The arts are what I’ve been drawn to ever since I can remember. I always sang around the house and put on little talent shows for my friends and family. I always knew I wanted this. I think when your a singer you always want a record deal, but I didn't really start performing until I was 16 I was always in choir but when I got my first solo I just knew this is what I was destined to do. I started writing songs to express myself when I was 10. I didn't really focus on music as a career until I was about 18, that's when I started to take all of my training seriously and started building my song catalogue, and I've grown soooo much in these past few years because of that focus.
Out of the songs you've written to date, which song means the most to you?
I wrote a song when I about 14 about a friend who commited suicide, It's an extremely emotional song. After I wrote it I think I started to realize the huge talent I have for song writing. I’m not afraid to express the realities of my life to help bring comfort to those young girls, like myself, who have wrestled with finding their own way in the world.
What artist do you compare yourself too?
I've never really compared myself to any other artist but I had artist I strived to be like when growing up, I belive babyface and Mariah were the standard lol, but I feel I'm most truthful when I'm on stage so I can't be anyone else, There are a few artists that play piano and sing, a few who play guitar, and a few that are great singer/songwriters, so there isn't anyone quite like me out there right now. but I think I'm one of the first to bring all those aspects of entertainment and more into one complete package!
Who would you love to collaborate with?
My dream collaboration list is pretty much endless. I love learning new things and feeding off of other people's creative energy, so any talented musicians who can teach me something new or influence me differently.
Growing up, did you sing in the shower or in front of a mirror?
I still do. Last night I was singing along to Tamia's you put a move on my heart in front of my bedroom mirror.
If you weren't working in the entertainment industry, what would you want to pursue?
I’d be an artist of some sort. The arts are what I’ve been drawn to ever since I can remember. If not that, then a teacher. I love being a postive and inspiring force in the lives of the youths out there. I actually went to college to be a music teacher. I still plan to finish college become a teacher when I'm to old to perform, and it's all said and done I'll teach.
Who are you dying to meet?
I've met a lot of celebrities already, but I would love to meet Alicia Keys, common, jill scott, mos def, and I wish I could have met Aaliyah.
What's your dream venue to perform at?
The Staples Center, the Hollywood Bowl, and Madison Squre Garden because that's where I have seen all my most memorable concerts.
Why the name Mystik..?
Well I knew you would ask lol everyone does. I feel I have alot of different dimensions to me, I am as serious, as I am silly lol. I'm a private kinna person shy at times, alot of people don't know me as well as they might think. My music is the only way anyone could truthfully grasp the complexity of who I really am.

Like I said, I’m with The Godless Liberal Social Society of Los Angeles. We’re a crack team of atheist and agnostic socialites who unapologetically celebrate progressive liberal politics and godlessness. We get together for godlessly liberal movies, lectures, drinks, special events and more.
