Hey Sean!

Wednesday, December 17th at 8 pm, the PFS has unearthed another "lost" cult classic of ultra-indie filmmaking: the bizarre, heavy-handed 1971 Christian propaganda film IF FOOTMEN TIRE YOU, WHAT WILL HORSES DO? Shown on 16mm at backwoods churches, it’s a twisted mess of delusional paranoia.

Seating begins at 7:30 pm for ALL-AGES with $5 admission.

Plus -- don’t forget our special screening at the JEA Auditorium (5111 Abercorn St.) at 7:30 pm, Thursday, Dec.
18th: THE LIFE OF REILLY,
an award-winning document of late actor and pop-culture icon CHARLES (MATCH GAME PM) NELSON REILLY’s autobiographical one-man show!

Advance $7 tix on sale now at The Sentient Bean, Wright Square Cafe and the JEA!

Hey Sean!

Long time no see...

Check our MySpace page for an updated schedule that goes far into the future.

p.s. I have TONS of great new "good/bad" movies just in that are dying for a co-sponsor...

Wednesday, October 15th at 8 pm, the PFS continues our 5-year-plus series of bizarre, overlooked, and just plain unique cinema in the intimate, screening-room environment of The Sentient Bean Coffeehouse on the southern end of Forsyth Park.

October’s devoted to obscure and acclaimed horror movies!

This week’s selection is the low-budget 1977 cult classic MARTIN - a post-modern vampire flick with heavy religious and sociological overtones directed by the legendary creater of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, CREEPSHOW and THE DARK HALF, GEORGE A. ROMERO.

Here’s the original trailer for this intense and little-known gem:

If you dig intelligent and intense horror, this is the film for you!

Only $5 at the door.
Don’t you dare miss it!

Seating begins at 7:30 pm for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY!

Wednesday, July 23rd at 8 pm, the PFS continues our 5-year-plus series of bizarre, overlooked, and just plain unique cinema in the intimate, screening-room environment of The Sentient Bean Coffeehouse on the southern end of Forsyth Park.

This time around, it’s KILL BABY KILL, an absolute cult classic directed by the legendary Italian horror auteur MARIO BAVA (who also did BLACK SUNDAY and DANGER: DIABOLIK, among other wild ’60s flicks).

It’s an old-fashioned Gothic Horror masterpiece, complete with creepy, haunted castles, fiendish spells, buxom victims, foggy graveyards and ruffled shirt collars.

If you appreciate eerie, atmospheric ghost stories that don’t rely on over-the-top gore for their scare factor, this beautifully shot nail-biter is the one for you!

Here’s the original trailer:

Our print of this 1966 gem is dubbed in English.
See you there!

Only $5 for ALL AGES.

Seating begins at 7:30 pm.

This time around, it’s BLACK FIST, a little-known blaxploitation flick about a tough street brawler who must battle gangsters and a crooked cop (played by a young and crude DABNEY COLEMAN) when they conspire to rip off his streetfight paydays.
It’s a cult classic just waiting to be rediscovered!

Here’s the opening sequence of the film:

Sean, baby!

Don't forget that tonight, Wed.
, May 14th, at The Sentient Bean we're screening the beautifully shot and mesmerizing Venice Film Festival Award Winner DENTI aka TEETH.
It's an terrific Italian film from 2000 that's been described as "flat-out brilliant", "haunting and disturbing", "dreamlike" and "Cronenberg-esque".
Essentially unknown in this country, it's a must-see for fans of challenging, cerebral filmmaking.

Here's the trailer, which is only in Italian - but don't worry, our print has English subtitles:

Seating for ALL-AGES begins at 7:30 pm with the film at 8 pm.

Sean,

Don't forget that tomorrow night (Wednesday, April 16th) at The Bean, we're showing CURSE OF THE SWAMP CREATURE - a gloriously awful 1966 drive-in "shocker" that's often described as being more unintentionally hilarious than PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE.

I know you'd love it. Hope to see you there!

Seating at 7:30 pm - film at 8 pm.

Sean,

Don't forget that tonight, Wednesday, March 26th at 8 pm, the PFS will show the little-known, but fantastially entertaining and campy 1967 Italian espionage/crime caper flick SEVEN GOLDEN MEN STRIKE AGAIN at The Sentient Bean!

It’s the campy, action-comedy sequel to the cult classic SEVEN GOLDEN MEN, which we screened last year to great applause. This film reunites the world’s greatest criminals - and one hot vixen - for another daring robbery. This time, they’re after 11,000 tons of gold bars.

Here’s the trailer, which is in Italian, --but don’t worry, our print of the film is dubbed in English:

Seating at 7:30 pm / film at 8 pm. Only $5 at the door for ALL-AGES.

Hope to see you there!

Sean baby,

Wednesday, April 9th at 8 pm, we're screening the little-known Hammer Studios espionage/kung-fu film CALL HIM MR. SHATTER at The Sentient Bean.

Starring Stuart Whitman as an international hitman who must battles the Hong Kong Mafia, it was co-produced by the legendary SHAW BROTHERS, who are responsible for the excellent martial arts sequences in this overlooked gem.

The film provides a great snapshot of what the seedier side of Hong Kong looked and felt like in 1974.

It's so rare (never released in the USA) that the only trailer we could find for it was in German - but don't worry, our copy of the film is in the original English language.

Tickets are only $5 at the door for ALL-AGES. seating begins at 7:30 pm.

Hope to see you there - and don't forget, advance $6 tickets go on sale tomorrow as well for our one-night only special screening of the best-reviewed horror film of 2007, THE ORPHANAGE, produced by PAN'S LABYRINTH director Guillermo Del Toro.

That showing is co-sponsored

Sean,

I bet you can't resist a little more WENG.

So...

Tonight at 8 pm, The Psychotronic Film Society of Savannah is PROUD to screen the Ultra-Rare sequel to the infamous Philippino JAMES BOND rip-off flick FOR YOUR HEIGHT ONLY.

1982's THE IMPOSSIBLE KID also stars legendary midget action star WENG WENG (all 2'9" of him) as Interpol Agent Double-0.

Those lucky enough to have shown up for our screening of the first WENG WENG film agreed that it was one of the most hysterical and bizarre movies they'd ever seen, and clamored for more.

Now that we have unearthed the second (and final film) the late actor ever made, you have another chance to witness firsthand the majesty and power of the mighty WENG.

In case you missed it the first time around, here's the international smash music video all about this super-spy's daring exploits, featuring clips from his films:

Seating begins at 7:30 pm for ALL-AGES, with the movie starting at 8 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Thanks for supporting independent cinema in Savannah - every Wednesday night at The Sentient Bean Coffeehouse on Forsyth Park!

Feb 27 2008 7:54 AM

Hey Sean!

At 8 pm tonight, Wednesday, February 27th at The Sentient Bean Coffeehouse, we’re showing one of the most bizarre and creepy low-budget shockers ever made!

In the 1973 drive-in classic DON’T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT (not to be confused with DON’T GO IN THE BASEMENT, but you probably shouldn’t go in this one either), a beautiful young nurse takes a job at an isolated sanitarium, only to learn that the head of the asylum has mysteriously vanished.

Can she escape from the mentally disturbed “inmates” who torment and harass her at every turn? And just what is in the basement?

Shot for next to nothing by an unknown director and starring a freaky cast of amateur actors, this whacked-out film must be seen to be believed.

Open to ALL-AGES, but recommended for Mature Audiences only, whatever that means...Seating begins at 7:30 pm. $5 tix at the door.

And don't forget - now, we're screening cult, foreign and indie films EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT at THE BEAN.

Check our MySPace page for a full, schedule of upcoming flicks...

Hey Sean!

Sorry to YELL, but this is worth shouting about:

DUE TO A MIX-UP, OUR NEXT FEW PSYCHOTRONIC FILMS WERE LEFT OUT OF CONNECT SAVANNAH'S MOVIE LISTINGS.

THAT'S HOW MOST FOLKS AROUND TOWN FIND OUT WHAT WE'RE SHOWING - SO WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET IN SPREADING THE WORD THAT THEY'RE TAKING PLACE...

PLEASE TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS, AND SPREAD THIS INFO AROUND, AS WE'VE GOT SOME AMAZING FILMS THIS MONTH - AND EVERY TICKET SOLD HELPS IMMENSELY!!!

HERE'S THE FIRST FILM IN OUR GREAT WINTER/SPRING SERIES:

*** THE LIBERATION OF L.B. JONES (1970, USA) ***

A long-lost classic piece of Blaxploitation, this hard-boiled drama is not in any way campy. Rather, it's an intense depiction of '60s race relations in a small Tennessee town, based on a true story.

When a black undertaker's wife has an affair with a white policeman, it sparks a deadly chain of events.

The last film directed by the great William Wyler (BEN-HUR), and starring Roscoe Lee Browne, Lee J. Cobb, Barbara Hershey, Lee Majors, Yaphet Kotto and Lola Falana!
