A car going at 24mph with windscreen wipers on, indicators on, heating on full and a horn with an intermittent fault. Tyres slowly deflating with a stone chip stuck in one tyre and a nail stuck in an other... with bits of the car gradually falling off onto the tarmac, then gravel, then ice... losing control and bouncing several times off the curb before smashing into a tree... yes just like that.
Enzo Appetecchia aka Zeno was born in Italy in 1977. After moving to Budapest in 1992 his first encounters with electronic music coincided with the first open-air raves to take place in Hungary around 1994.
In 1995 he moved to Ireland, where for 6 months he busked the streets of Dublin playing percussion for the eager Temple Bar crowds. Following another 4 years spent travelling across various other European locations, Enzo set foot on British soil in September 1999.
While working in several West End bars he developed a passion for electronic dance music and an addiction to vinyl fuelled by the numerous record shops that thrived in Soho at the time. In 2000 he worked at The Arts Theatre, where he and a few others started the infamous ‘Closer to Heaven members bar’ nights which often consisted in lock-ins that rattled on until 8am. In the following years Enzo played under different pseudonyms in some of the smaller East End clubs such as Café 1001, Vibe Bar, and Electricity Showrooms, before settling in as Zeno at Camden's legendary Roundhouse,
where in the summer of 2007 he launched the Roundhouse Punch sessions where he's also resident DJ.
In the last two years Zeno has featured as special guest DJ at some well established club nights across Europe such as Blueroom in Rome and Girls and Mathematics in Budapest...
In London he is resident DJ at the monthly The Nearly Really Rude Show at The Apothecary Room (The EGG) in Kings Cross. Recently The Nearly Really Rude Show headlined Market EC1 at Fabric on New Years Day 2009.
Zeno's unmistakable hypnotic style described as Technofunk with a heart is quickly establishing him on the underground scene both in the capital and in Europe.
