Not a Rock and Roll band influenced by Celtic music,
but a Traditional band influenced by electricity!
Na'Bodach is a high octane Celtic band with electric bagpipes and fiddle, and several more electric and acoustic instruments. It began in 1999, as three friends gathered for sessions. Casey Jones, George Zienowicz and Andy Redmond recognized that songs known by Irish and Scottish soldiers and the Celtic music that evolved in America were rich repositories that could use a little exploring. With the addition of two more friends, Bud Osthaus and Glenn Owens and, since all members were a bit older than their garage band days, the name Na'Bodach, (Gaelic for "not old men"), seemed appropriate.
Besides the occasional festival appearance throughout the Eastern US, this Neutrik electronics endorsee is branching out from their Philadelphia/Trenton home base.
Their critically acclaimed debut album, “Knickers Down, Bottoms Up”, received a nomination for “Best Celtic Band – 2004” by “Just Plain Folks”, an organization that recognizes the international independent music scene.
In 2006, "An Intelagent Design", showcasing the band’s musical evolution, was a finalist for the same organization! A film documentary about the band is scheduled for release in summer 2009.
They are true to tradition and culture yet; they always throw in a few drams of high octane… Culture, Tradition, Electricity, Edge… Na’Bodach!
Sunday March 15, Discovery made its final journey into space, before retirement, from Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island on the east coast of Florida. These are pictures I took from the causeway that leads to Merritt Island.
Three and a half million people held their breath and waited, on the surrounding beaches and causeways, for Discovery's scheduled launch after sunset.
Sharing the joy of that moment... Let your dreams soar up and out into the universe... If you can hold your dreams in your thoughts then you CAN hold them in your hands.
Believe in the power of you my dear friend Na' Bodach.
