A Nação Suburbana veio à vida no ano de 2003 em Pelotas – RS para se apresentar no Projeto 277, realizado pela Prefeitura de Pelotas no Theatro Sete de Abril.( Projeto designado principalmente para composições proprias.)
A rica mescla de sons que compõe a identidade da banda se traduz em grooves que privilegiam a percussão. O funk e a soul music, agregados à brasilidade musical e suas letras Folclório-Contestatórias dão um tempero único à banda.
A diversidade da formação musical de cada integrante contribui para a versatilidade da Nação Suburbana.
O encarregado dos vocais e letras é o Dudu Freda. Ele pensa música de forma folclórica. Suas letras vêm das raízes da cultura negra e afro-brasileira. O elemento percussivo é o seu alicerce. Suas influências vão desde big bands de funk com 12 integrantes até simples rodas de batucada na palma da mão do interior do país.
O homem da percussão é o Doug D’iobá. Tem o suíngue na corrente sangüínea. Músico experiente da noite com formação na percussão da Umbanda. Boa parte do tempero do molho é garantida por ele.
Outro que garante o groove é o baterista Alexandre Black. Nascido e criado no Reggae, trouxe deste ritmo a precisão e a economia para as suas batidas, mas sem nunca perder o suíngue. A malandragem de tocar na noite há anos garantem a segurança.
No contrabaixo se encontra Fernando Silva, o Alemão. Escolado em Red Hot Chilli Peppers e Rage Against the Machine, Fernando é apreciador da música "Black", que complementou a influência que sempre teve do funk brasileiro. Versatilidade é a palavra.
Da guitarra se encarrega Ricardo Pantanal. Rock, Jazz e Funk. Soluções melódicas muito ricas. E com muito suíngue. A liberdade do Jazz se mescla com o ritmo do Funk com perfeição.
EXPERIÊNCIA
Depois do Projeto 277, ainda em 2003, a Nação Suburbana participou do 1º Festival do SESI Descobrindo Talentos, no qual a banda venceu as 3 etapas eliminatórias, com a música “Zumbi O Contador de Histórias”. O festival de âmbito estadual teve a Nação como a grande vencedora, entre mais de 560 inscritos.
A partir desta conquista, a banda foi convidada em 2004 a participar do Festival Rock in’ Jipa, em Jiparaná-RO, onde tocaram com bandas de todo o país.
Em 2005 se classificaram entre as 10 melhores bandas do Festival do Fuca em Blumenau-SC. O evento foi de âmbito regional e o número de inscritos ultrapassou a casa dos dois mil.
Em 2006 a banda participou do Fórum Bi-Nacional na cidade do Chuy, no Uruguai. Deste evento participaram bandas de toda a América do Sul.
A Nação entrou em recesso no início de 2007. Voltou às atividades em 2008 com a atual formação, participando em 10/06/2008 no Projeto Sete ao Entardecer, organizado pela Prefeitura de Pelotas no Theatro Sete de Abril .
No mês de Julho de 2008 a Nação emplaca novamente no Festival Sesi Descobrindo Talentos, onde o Baixista Fernando'Alemao'Silva conquista o Prêmio de Melhor instrumentista da Etapa.
The Nação Suburbana came to life in 2003 in the city of Pelotas (Brazil) to make a concert in the 277 Project, carried out by the Prefecture of this city. The show was done in the Theatro Sete de Abril, the brazilian’s oldest theater in action.
The rich blend of sounds that makes the band’s identity translates in grooves focused in the percussion. The Funk and Soul Music, added to the brazilian musicality and the critical lyrics, give to the band an unique spice.
The diversity of musical background of each musician contributes to the versatility of Nação Suburbana.
The man in charge of vocals and lyrics is Dudu Freda. He thinks music in a brazilian folk way. His lyrics come from the roots of the afro-brazilian culture. The percussive elements made his foundation. His influences goes since funk big bands with 12 musicians to simple “batucadas” with clapping hands from the roots of Brazil.
The man behind percussion is Doug D’iobá. He got the groove running through his veins. Doug is a well rounded musician from the night of Pelotas. His musical formation came from the Umbanda (afro-brazilian religion). A big part of the Nação’s musical flavour is under D’iobá’s responsability.
The other man that keeps the groove on is the drummer Alexandre Black. Born and raised in Reggae, Black brings from this rhythm the economy and precision of his beats, but always keeping the swing on. Another well rounded musician from night clubs, Alexandre gives security to the band.
In the bass we meet Fernado Silva, o “Alemão”. A huge fan of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine, Fernando was raised in the brazilian funk. So he met the american funk, and this two styles just get together. Versatility is the word here.
The man behind the guitars is Ricardo Pantanal. Rock, Jazz and Funk. Melodic solutions in a very rich level. And a lot of groove. The freedom of Jazz and the rhythm of Funk joining together with perfection.
EXPERIENCES
After 277 Project in 2003, Nação Suburbana has been in to the SESI’s 1º Discovering Talents Festival. The band won the festival with the song “Zumbi o Contador de Histórias”. The festival was an interestate competition with over 560 bands.
After this, the band was invited in 2004 to play in Rock in’ Jipa Festival, in the extreme north of Brazil with bands from all around of the country.
In 2005 Nação plays in Festival do Fuca, staying in the Top Ten Bands from 2000 other bands in the contest.
In 2006 the band plays in Bi-Nacional Forum in the city of Chuy, Uruguay, with bands from all over South america.
The Nação Suburbana split in early 2007. And get back in business in july 2008 to play in project “Sete ao Entardecer”, realized by the Prefecture of Pelotas, in the Sete de Abril Theater.
