NADEENA DIXON-Wiradjuri/Yuin/Dharug Aboriginal Woman Singer/Songwriter
Grew up in a large extended Aboriginal family ,with strong Aboriginal Cultural and Spiritual Values.
The eldest grand-daughter of Aboriginal Rights Activist 'Chicka Dixon' many of her songs reflect the harsh reality of the struggle and resistance of Australian Aboriginal Nations for Self-Determination.
A powerful advocate for Aboriginal womens rights Nadeena is strongly involved in Aboriginal Womens issues,including a song titled'Butterfly'which speaks out against the oppression of Women through violence.
Nadeena continues her life long love of learning Aboriginal Culture including her passion for Aboriginal Language and the Protection of Sacred Mother Earth.
Haveing performed for over 15 years Nadeena is a former member of Aboriginal Hip-Hop crew South West Syndicate ,she has performed with many noted Aboriginal Performing Artists includeing Youthu Yindi-Kev Carmody-Tiddas -Joe Geia ....
Nadeena is a former student of C.A.S.M [Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music] Adelaide S.A/ASSOC DIP AB ST MUS
Nadeena believes MUSIC is a powerful tool that can go straight to tha heart,and among her musical influences are many of the greatest story tellers through song artists including Peter Tosh -Toots and the Maytals -Stevie Wonder-Bob Marley- Nina Simone... also many gifted and talented Aboriginal Musicians including members of Nadeena's family who have inpired and uplifted her spirit to believe that above all else.. it is 'Music that Soothes the Souls of tha Weary'.
Always close to her heart is her beloved People and their ongoing struggle to be recognised as the rightful owners of the continent of Australia,and so many other people around tha world who continue to speak out against oppression....Nadeena continues to do what she does best ......................'.SING FOR THA PEOPLE'
