NADIA SUNDE is well known around Australia as one of the best singers and performers on the Festival circuit.
A 5 year stint as lead singer and bass player with Brisbane based band ‘Spot the Dog’ gave Nadia a great musical apprenticeship and encouraged her to write her own songs.
Nadia recorded two albums with 'Spot the Dog' - 'Bedside Manners' and 'Drunk on the Moon'. Both were added to the national playlist for airplay on ABC radio, winning them a loyal following around the country.
Nadia released her debut solo album in 2000 called 'The Spark'. It received national ABC radio airplay, was a 'Feature Album' on ABC Coast FM and was nominated for 'Best Folk Album' at the 'Queensland Sunnie Awards'.
Nadia Sunde’s songs project images that are sometimes touching, sometimes funny and always loving. They are songs that move audiences deeply and leave people with a sense that there is still some good in the world.
Nadia’s musical styling moves across country, through folk, into rock and on into something unique that is completely her own, a soulful, wholesome beauty that comes, perhaps, from growing up amongst the apple blossoms on her family’s farm.
Returning to the scene after a 5 year hiatus of child rearing, house building and nursing her mother, Nadia’s recent life experiences have brought a new maturity and complexity to her songwriting and performance.
The honesty of her lyrics and stage presence is further enhanced by the beauty of her voice - a voice that is a mixture of chocolate and velvet, deep and rich and textured, a voice to fall into.
“Nadia Sunde has a power packed set of vocal chords. Her melodic tones have an earthy quality to them – they resonate, as opposed to punctuating. And that, is a good thing.”
Time Off Magazine, Brisbane.
Nadia's time away from performing has not been spent idle. She has become a well known voice for ABC radio on the Gold Coast, building up a whole new fan base as a broadcaster for ABC 91.7, 90.3 and 91.3.
She was also the musical director for “The Gift - A Womans Song”. A collaboration album, featuring some of Australia’s best female musicians which is raising money for a Donor Mothers Milk Bank on the Gold Coast. Nadia also contributed a song (Time of our Lives) to the project.
