British born by way of Norweigan and Pakistani descent; Nadine Shah is a vocalist/pianist from a small North East town called Whitburn over looking the waves and jagged rocks of the North Sea.
Nadine's live debut was at the official unsigned showcase In the City in October 2009, since then Nadine has played at venues such as Sheperd's Bush Empire, The Sage Gateshead, and the legendary Ronnie Scotts.
Spring 2010 will see Nadine on her first tour of 02 Academies supporting Shakespeare Sister before heading into a summer of festivals.
Nadine is working on her debut album with producer Ben Hillier. Tom Robinson already teasing audiences by playing a demo version of 'Aching Bones' on his BBC Introducing on 6 Music in anticipation of Nadine's first EP due to land later in 2010.
"If all live debuts were as breathtaking as Nadine Shah's then the walls of the music industry as we know it would crumble to dust, and in their place proud palaces of hope and beauty would spring forth."

Tough Troubles are three guys, two from Holloway and one from Wimbledon, Greater London. Over nearly three years they've used cheap electronics and stringed instruments to space the fuck out. At some point during the Winter 2009/2010 Mi Mi, Fi Fi and G G were spent after another 3 hour session and it occurred to them that the human organism itself is an inner cosmos - to be bent around the will. This artifice appeared significant enough at the time to germinate the idea of a concept album called "Illnesses".
If you're ever in Newcastle on a Tuesday night and at a loose end we'd love to see you play at the Trent House open mic night (weekly, 8pm onwards) - which is also one of our main places of distribution! You can get more info here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=103243856374528&ref=ts If you have any questions about the open mic or the magazine, just give us a shout!
Ah, no we're refusing to play live at the moment like spoilt, petulant children. Ha! We played on the Empire stage last year though, which was fun. Laura came on stage wearing a cape and a false beard. Wacky bastards.
I'm sure we'll start playing live at some point though. We've just finished recording our 2nd album, and I'm sure our label won't be too impressed at the idea of us not playing live at all in order to promote it. In which case we could play together some time...
Ah thanks so much matey! Really glad you enjoyed it. Yes a gig would be fantastique, I'm actually in Haiti at the moment, but am getting back next month, and hoping to gig as much as poss through july, aug and september, maybe we can see if we can organise summet at the cluny or somewhere like that. How did the escaping brighton go? And you're playing Latitude! Amazing stuff, that will be a brilliant one like! Very much looking forward to a gig with yourself!
