Naelc Wonk was a five-member band from Karlovac, town that you can't miss if you are traveling from inland Croatia toward the Adriatic coast and islands. From Karlovac's rehearsal joints you could lately hear various fusions of newer sounds while D.I.Y. fanzine scene in Karlovac that used to be active is slowly but surely sinking into oblivion. Naelc Wonk has it's roots in that sound and you can hear it from the lyrics and the seven songs on the DxEMOxDx CD-rom, recorded and produced by the band in the summer and fall of 2000. The album was recorded at ABRACADABRA sound laboratory in Karlovac. Through the lyrics, Naelc Wonk gives a retrospective aspect of the real state of facts and events from the time when the songs were written, although a few segments are universal even with the mild perspective of the essence of human existence. On the other hand, through apolitical reflex of interpersonal relations the band is trying to mock all the social cliches and in that way, at least within the band, place hypocrisy to it's minimum where it belongs. Luckily, there is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for that kind of lyrics in Karlovac and also more widely and that's factually a global problem.
Mixed music influences have created the sound on this CD and they vary in a wide range from hardcore,hip hop,..through different fusions, to the music that doesn't have anything in common with the classical band production. Naelc Wonk nourishes simple attitude that the band's batteries both charge and empty at concerts and with friendly contacts, which should result in energy exchange and dancing as indisputable affirmation of audience's liveliness at concerts.
