Happy New Year. Thanks for adding the Brighton Metal Scene to your friends. Check out the new tracks for this year and visit the page to see when and where the best metal gigs in Brighton are going to be. There are reviews and photos coming soon so keep checking for updates.
Two of our most exciting events of the year come to you back to back, this Thursday and Friday.
First 070808:
Released Sept 08' but brought to you in advance by Not For Resale, the new compilation release from Brighton's Toy Soldier Records gets it's rightful release knees-up (and in yr face) at NFR in August.
'1:18th' - 18-Track CD compilation featuring: Jonquil, Revenge of Shinobi, Bats, Sons of Noel and Adrian, Everyone to the Anderson, Lebanons, Little Trophy, Who Owns Death TV, Epideme, Laish Quartet, Sunshine the Werewolf +++ Many, many, many more
Then FRIDAY (080808 – YEAH!) brings you this:
The NFR club night in full effect - future disco, mutant indie, guest djs and bands. A ridiculously decadent night of neon insanity.
Starting off with ex-My Rhino man matt’s new Overwatch outfit. A meshing and mashing of Warp style IDM electronics and crushing Relapse guitar riffs and textures www. myspace. com/httpwwwmyspacecomoverwatch
Second up is London’s one and only 8-bit one-man thrash metal band. We’ve been playing him for months and are very excited to bring you his debut Brighton performance. The immense Kkasio-dooom-wave-thrash-tech-getto-core of Iron Pirate is primed, under orders and ready to ravage!!! Get his album now and see what’s in store for y’all come Friday www. myspace. com/ironpirat
Finishing you off will be Brighton’s P For Persia with their psycho-jungle-comes-alive inter-galactic no-wave, ex-grunge de-fib un-tuned diskko sludge www. myspace. com/pforpersia
.....This gig is going to be one of the most incendiary off the wall events you will EVER see.
We’ve got a new venue for it – The Hope – BLAM in the centre of town. Still free.
Hope you can make it, this one’s going to be intense and a whole lot of fun.
Brighton’s Autumn Chorus are a thing of wonder to behold. Huge beautiful tunes that shimmer along their course across the most mind expanding terrain. Plus, their drummer drums for Diagonal too - BLAM! (www. myspace. com/autumnchorus)
London’s Kontakte draw from all sides of the sonic spectrum fusing together deep passions for Post - Drone - Space and Krautrock. The bands love for distorted beats, transience and star-scraping melodies informs them on their quest to create music of depth, space and intensity (www. myspace. com/kontakteuk)
THEN to headline, Brighton’s raring-ist hariest improv thrill-ride - Passiondale - relentless rising groovescapeness packed with uncomfortable samples, bleeping toms, shimmering guitar work and distorted howling. (no MySpaces for them, so you’ll just have to come and see for yourself!)
In between and after, until late late DJ’s Meatbreak and Fokka Wolfe will be plying new and exciting tunes from these kinds of outfits>>>
Be Your Own Pet / Benga / Blood Red Shoes / Bonde De Role / Boys Noise / Brodinski / Celebration / Chromatics / Cosmic Metal Mother / Crystal Castles / Dananananaykroyd / The Death Set / Der Blutharsch / D.I.M. / Does It Offend You, Yeah? / Errors / Foals / Fucked Up / Future Of The Left / Glass Candy / Guns ‘N’ Bombs / Heartsrevolution / Holy Fuck / Klaxons / Kode9 / Late Of The Pier / Le Dust Sucker / M83 / MGMT / Midnight Juggernauts / Neon Neon / Of Montreal / Om / Portishead / Pterodactyl / Santogold / Shinichi Osawa / The Teenagers / Turbowolf / The Sword / These New Puritans / White Denim / White Hills / Wooden Shjips / Working For A Nuclear Free City…
Hellooo! Are you free this Friday? This one's gonna blow minds:
DJ's playing hyper dance guitars and beat sounds to git yer twitchin.
At what other night are you going to hear the likes of Supermayer, High On Fire and Asobi Seksu all rammed up against each other for your dancing pleasure? NONE I tell you NONE!!
Hopefully see you there for some electronic hardcore damage and surrealist freak-sounds!
thanx for your sunny world... i can smell the beach, boys! to be so romantic with steel drum that's amazing...i like it ...and look how i feel listening your songs
I hate your job too ;-) Cheers for the add (that makes me feel fraudulently pseudo-youthful) and loving your random disc, Palace Bros so UP for the morning ;-)

Hey there, just thought I'd finally post and say how much I like (some of) your songs. Have had your album since April and love Romford, No Legs, Broke Wires, Nurses, and Idiot (as I have now shortened them to). Your new song Prince is great, and White Dot and Toilet Cleaner are good too. Sorry I can't quite like your more random songs, but would love one day for you to make an album of songs as great/consistent as those I've just mentioned. Would be a brilliant album.
