The drummers that inspire my playing directly these days tend to be groove-oriented players, with enough skill to play rock-steady grooves, and show off when the music calls for it (along with a couple of chop animals):
Daniel Adair
(Nickelback, Martone)
Chad Szeliga
(Breaking Benjamin)
Todd Sucherman
(Styx, Taylor Mills, etc)
Ray Luzier
(Army Of Anyone, Korn)
Jeff Campitelli
(Joe Satriani)
Neil Sanderson
(Three Days Grace)
Ben Hall
(The Butterfly Effect)
Chad Smith
(Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Taylor Hawkins
(Foo Fighters)
...and so on.
Then there are the guys who are just in a league of their own, who I use as a source of inspiration, but who I simply aren't able to "steal" much from:
Mike Mangini
(James LaBrie, Steve Vai, Annihilator, etc)
Gavin Harrison
(Porcupine Tree, 03ric)
Simon Phillips
(Toto, Gary Moore, etc)
Derek Roddy
(Serpent's Rise, etc)
Marco Minnemann
(Paul Gilbert, Necrophagist, etc)
And of course: The guys in Lucky Lew, Mean Genie and anyone else I've played or jammed with. As a musician, nothing inspires more than playing with others.
Sounds Like
Me.
"Everything you've ever heard comes out in what you play"

Well, I'm 28 years old, from Bergen in Norway, and I play drums in Lucky Lew. Check us out, we'll be touring all over in the future, and we'll be heading in the studio to record our second album in 2009.
Musically, I'm primarily a drummer, but I've played guitar for ten years, took piano lessons as a kid, played various horns in a few marching bands, I can find my way around a bass and I've sung backup at times.
I've also lived in Australia for a few years, where I (among other activities) played drums and sang backup vocals for a cover band called Mean Genie (no longer active).
The music player
All tracks feature yours truly behind the drum kit.
No. 3
A demo recording of one of our more ballad-ish tunes (it's even got strings!). Recorded in early 2009.
Dirt
This is the "single" of sorts from Lucky Lew., recorded and mixed in the summer and autumn of 2008.
My Kitten Sleeps
The B-side from the Dirt single, recorded during the same session.
Cover Medley
A collection of cover song snippets from Mean Genie's 2006 demo recording. This was recorded at Sub Studio Melbourne, using my old Mapex M kit. Click here for a picture from the recording sessions.

Hey man, cheers! At the moment they've loaned me a Delite to record the alarum album with, Tomas Haake was the last person to play it so I might rub myself on the kick drum before we get started! I'm basically gonna work out what setup I want and see how much an SQ2 is gonna set me back, which is still gonna be a fucking ball tearer even with endorsement rates. The delite is nothing to sneeze at either! How are things on your end man?
hi! iam wolfgang the guitarist of dreamscape. we should learn to be the best persons we can be and our world will change. i try. but it's not as easy as playing guitar in a high class band...
H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.
kind regards! DREAMSCAPE (progressive metal from germany) (new cd september 2009! - buy or let die!)

Excellent profile pic Eskil! Songs sound great, man, one day we're gonna have to play together on the same bill! We're getting closer to a full lineup, gonna start auditions for a second guitar in 2 weeks, should be playing by July! Hey that demo I put up is me playing all the parts (my dodgey guitar playing is starting to come along whatdaythink? I even try a little bit of Kirk Hammett action in there towards the end! haha) How's plans for the US trip goin?

"You've got to follow your passion. You've got to figure out what it is you love. who you really are. And have the courage to do that. I believe that the only courage anybody ever needs is the courage to follow your own dreams." O.W.
we follow our passion! we love to make music with dreamscape! what's about your dreams?
kind regards! DREAMSCAPE (progressive metal from germany) (new cd spring 2009!)
haha! Well, I'm almost serious! I had a lump on my back which I had to have removed. Nothin' serious, no need to mention the "C" word. So it wasn't alive and it didn't have an eye or weird tiny limbs but I like to think of it as my conjoined twin. Now I have a cool scar on my back, which makes me even more metal than before...check out my new track Nowonmia...see how metal I am!
HAHA! Me too dude! It would be nice if we could get together and play... Matt and I have been working on some ideas and probably have about 3 albums of unfinished bits and pieces while Lee has busily been collecting guitar equipment. He now has a Les Paul, a Strat a Yamaha Fat Strat, a Fender Tweed, a Marshall (real vintage one), a Maton Hollow Body and enough effects to cover about 2 metres of floor space! Oh, and he has a new 16 channel sound card. Jay has got an electric kit to go with this Acoustic one...so all the foundations are there. BUT I had to have an op. on my back right after Romy was born and Mat got a promotion and had to fly inter state a few times...So we wont even start rehersing again til Jan. Hangin to get it happening but life is getting in the way at the moment...hopefully we'll eventually get there. Apart from that all is well. Started building my first guitar (rebuilding the old red Les Paul into a REAL one! gonna be cool) Desk jobs are cool, if you wanna get fat and bored, I know I am! Catch ya.

yeah!!! Nice one man, rockin' tracks! Top playing too. Good to hear man. Glad it's all goin' well, any more news on the china thing? Oh, happy birthday for the other week too. We've been getting more serious of late which is really cool. Jay just bought a electric kit so he can get into it more from home and we can trigger a bunch of stuff as well as use live drums. Even Lee's keen to get more serious about things! We're gonna start recording in mid Sept. Can't wait!
Yeah, demo recording. No I'm just doing Backing Vocal with Jay. Matt is the lead Singer. Probably forgot to tell you about the new bub. Sorry about that! Going to rehearsal today. Gonna put another bit up today before i leave. Got songs coming out my butt at the moment!
Hey man, Yeah saw the word about the China thing on the Lucky website. Sounds exciting. I keep looking there to see if they've updated your bit of the bio. nothing yet.. Yep, all those new bits are ideas for the band to work on. Been getting into the songs on Matts site lately with the boys. Rockin them up a bit. We're nearly ready to get into the studio. Rel's good, heavily pregnant with our second bub due in Oct. Tom is a liitle maniac runnin' round the house from morning til night. He turns 2 next week just before yours (you old bastard)! Good to hear things are goin well. Keep in touch.
Great to hear you're back in the game! I too have blisters to prove I'm a bass player again. We've had 3 rehearsals now and we're starting to find out feet. Got one sound pretty much down now and the rest should come a lot quicker. We've stripped everything right down to basics and are building as we get more into the songs so it's taking some time but it's fun all the same. Realistically we probably wont be ready to gig for a while yet but that's OK. I'm just enjoying falling in love with bass playing again.
